There have quite a few, yes. But I wouldn’t mind having you with me on some other opportunity for a ride around town. Not at all. It’s not lIke it’s a matter of State. Me being away caused that. It was… a sudden thing, and I didn’t have the time even to explain to the Headmaster and Mistress. So here we are. Not so pleasent, so I’m trying to make it as fun as I can.

I understand, Sir.  A similar thing happened to me, although I was back soon enough they didn’t take away all my points, thankfully.  But that’s actually why I can’t go to town with you, Sir, although I’d be happy to entertain you on campus.  I’m not currently allowed to leave campus with anyone but my Dom or my brother Noah.

Oh god I have so many.  How much time do you have?  I’m the son of a librarian, practically all my dad and I talk about is books, there are so many that are special to me.  But I’ll pick one in particular.  I, Robot by Isaac Asimov.  It’s one that dad gave to me when I was a kid, and it was one of the first books that got me really into sci-fi.  I’ve reread it probably a dozen times.  It was hugely influential to me in my preteen and teenage years.

hc event - How do you deal with stress?

Pretend it doesn’t exist!  ....My therapist gets annoyed with me for that.  Not to mention Eric.  Anyway, there’s other ways I deal with stress, too.  Cleaning, for one, and getting ahead on my homework.  When I get stressed I get this massive urge to make sure everything is done and spotless and nothing is hanging over my head.  After that, I’d probably find Eric, see if I can kneel next to him.  That helps my brain slow down.

Probably to just stand there, honestly.  When fear kicks in like that and my fight or flight goes off, I freeze.  Always.  So I’d just stand there, staring, doing nothing... not the best tactic for dealing with things, but it’s what I’ve got, apparently.

hc event - What Is your most unusual talent?

Unusual?  Uh...  I don’t know what counts as unusual.  I’m very good at remembering facts but I feel like that isn’t unusual.  Oh, no, I know.  In middle school I went through a phase where I got really good a shooting rubber bands with my fingers, and I got scarily accurate.  I started doing trick shots and stuff.  I bet I could still do most of it.

hc event - Do you have a social cause or charity that you are passionate about? Why?

Conservation.  The biodiversity on the planet is steadily plummeting, because as a species we’ve gotten to the point that we are capable of radically changing our environments.  Few things make me sadder than the amazing creatures no one will ever get to see, because they didn’t survive the changes that humans made to their environment.  Like the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō, a Hawaiian bird that went extinct in 1987.  We have a recording of the song made by the last Kauaʻi ʻōʻō, a male, taken not long before he died and the species was declared extinct.  The song was of the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō’s mating call, which he had continued to sing for several years in search of his mate, the last female, who had died in a tropical storm.  He just kept singing to her, hoping to find her, until the very end.  And if that doesn’t make your heart ache, you’re a sociopath and you need help.

My sincere apologies to anyone who has had to be within six feet of me in the past few days. I don’t think I’ve ever had a cold this terrible, or drunk this much tea. I have a new appreciation for the teapot I’ve always used - usually when I make tea, it’s for a different purpose.

It’s happened! The colors are changing! The air is brisk and the perfect time for some hot apple cider and a leisurely stroll through the grounds. I was thinking some afternoon nature hikes might be in order, and I’m so into anyone wanting to join me!

How much nature do you want to actually explore on these nature hikes?  Because it’s migration season so we might be able to catch sight of some cool birds if we pay attention, not to mention fall migratory butterflies.  I can get you some guides on what to look for in Ohio in the fall, if you want.
