Root faked her death - an essay

This is the essay version of my post “Root faked her death” (which is basically just catchwords).

In this essay, I’d like to look at episode 10 of season 5, especially at everything that is related to Root’s death. I want to compare Root’s possible death with events of season 1 to season 4 that are similar. After that, I’ll concentrate on episode 10 to episode 13 of season 5 and . I’ll look at what actually proofs a death of Root.

At the beginning, I’d like to include a little summary of my essay, considering why Root might still be alive, so you know what you can expect:

During analyzing episode 10, I noticed that it is reasonable that Root and TM could have planned to fake Root’s death, in order to win the ASI war - the episode also provides multiple possibilities were Root and TM communicate. Out of all members of Team Machine, Root has the most influence on Harold, considering the rules he has set for himself and TM, so Root’s death would have the greatest effect on how Harold acts during the ASI war. Root also talks to Harold and Shaw about death - both speeches can be interpreted in a way that Root refers to faking her death. Furthermore, TM never states that Root actually has died. And considering Root’s injury, there is no proof, except Root’s behavior, that Jeff Blackwell actually hit her. Her dying of the shot wound, also in comparison to prior main characters who were shot, is very unlikely, considering that TM could have backed Root up.
