Notice how SJM's males are miserable assholes for centuries, but it's chalked up as them being traumatized and broody.
Meanwhile, Nesta's a miserable asshole for a handful of years, and it's chalked up as her being toxic and abusive.

do you know how low the bar has to be to love Nesta with Azriel even tho Azriel doesn't really defend Nesta either, but he still treats her like a person
The fact that both Az and Nesta are canonically interested and fascinated by history, constellations and different worlds, only for Cassian to either forget or shut off any questions
I’m just glad Nesta and Azriel got to experience their little history crash course together in hofas. Even though they had to deal with
A) Bryce
B) a Daglan
C) a Middengard wyrm
"It’s always been you. Even when I tried to forget." for Nezriel please dearest 🤍
"Nesta, open your eyes. Come on, breathe!"
Azriel hadn't felt a fear like this since Cassian had nearly been killed in their first battle.
Except, Cassian wasn't here. And hadn't been. Not since he'd gone to Illyria "for space to think" after he and Nesta had one disagreement too many. That had been three months ago.
Now, his brother's mate was bleeding out after, once again, saving all their skins.
"Nesta, stay with me," Azriel repeated, pressing his hands over the wound in her chest.
She'd gotten them out -- escaped from a mission gone wrong with that Harp, except the blade had already been thrown, catching her before they could disappear. He'd regained his bearings just in time to see her pull it out in shock before collapsing to the ground.
Surely, Cassian would feel her distress, and help would be there any moment.
She had to live until then.
"Az..." She wheezed, her head rolling to the side, her lashes fluttering.
Relief unlike he'd ever felt washed over him, so intense he nearly wept.
"Right here," he swore. "I'm not going anywhere."
A soft sound left her throat, either from pain or in acknowledgement.
"Tired..."
"I know you are, angel," he said, leaning forward to press his brow to hers, if only because his hands were too busy to stroke her cheeks or her hair. "I know. But you need to stay awake until I can get you out of here."
He was already hearing the lecture he'd get from her Valkyries.
Nesta blinked with more intention, and then her eyes were staring up into his, glazed with pain.
"Azriel."
"Yes, love."
She let out a heaving sigh before her hand lifted, her fingers catching his cheek.
"I have to tell you something."
"Don't say that like you're going anywhere." He snapped, even as his throat was tight and blood continued to pool over his fingers. "You stay right here with me. And when Cassian-"
Nesta shook her head. "No listen. It's always been you, Azriel."
Azriel froze, his eyes widening. In his chest, he felt as though his heart would burst. This female, so radiant and ethereal and caring and stubborn. He'd been hers from the moment she ripped the head off that kelpie. Or maybe before, when she'd given so much during the war.
"Nesta..." He breathed. "But Cass-"
"Cassian isn't here," she sighed, looking genuinely heartbroken about it. "You are. I just... I've always...You have to know. Just in... Just in case."
All the words winded her, and her eyes fluttered again as her exhaustion took hold. It sent that fear piercing through him, at the idea that he could lose her like this.
"I know," he said, even if he hadn't. Even if the news had turned his entire world on its head. "I know, Nesta."
Driven by adrenaline, newfound confidence, fear, or a mix of the three, Azriel pressed a kiss to her brow, her cheek, and then, gently, her lips. It made her eyes open again, which he took as a victory.
"It's you too," he whispered. "You should know that too. I tried to forget and make myself not believe it, because it isn't right. But I can't. It's always you."
Her fingers lifted again, to stroke over his jaw, before dropping to catch somewhere on his leathers.
"Kiss me again," she replied, her voice a rasp.
Azriel shuddered, helpless against her command.
"Only if you keep your eyes open."
I had someone comment on one of my reddit posts criticizing Nesta for "antagonizing" Az at the beginning of ACOSF. I'm sorry, but you're telling me that this twenty-five-year-old newly turned Fae person is "antagonizing" the terrifying Shadowsinger, who is the torturer of the Night Court, and that's supposed to be a bad thing???
Nesta motherfucking Archeron "antagonizing" the one everyone else fears makes her the biggest baddest bitch, in my opinion. Hard-core stan.

If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.

I think about this tiny smitten Johnny smiling at Peter like once a week. (Marvel Two-in-One #4)
We know Johnny has a lot of canon down bad for peter but does Peter has those moments in comics?
So this is just my read on the relationship, but I think Peter does have his own down bad moments -- they just look a little different.
My personal read on Spideytorch in canon is that Johnny is aware of his feelings for Peter, and has been for years and years, whereas Peter like, knows he cares deeply for Johnny but has maybe never stopped to quantify what those feelings actually are, and wouldn't necessarily act on them even if he did. Part of the reason being that Peter has been in several successful committed relationships over the years, as opposed to Johnny's unfortunate relationship history. But I do think these moments exist, just that they show up differently.
Peter also tends to be a little pigtail pull-y in his affection for Johnny, and less heart on his sleeve.
(Spider-Man/Fantastic Four #1) "Pretty boy." Okay. Yeah, he's eighteen and aggressive and thinks Johnny's life is perfect, but he had to throw in that little comment.
There's Spectacular Spider-Man v2 #4, too, where he says Johnny looks "like a dream" right after he's electrocuted himself.
Or when Johnny (and the rest of the Fantastic Four) were returned from the supposed dead after Heroes Reborn, when Peter is so excited to see him again that he doesn't even care that there's a multimillion dollar bounty on Spider-Man's head.
(ASM #430) "Especially the Human Torch! It would be rude to show up empty-handed. My old buddy deserves a great welcome home gift, but I can't decide between a webbed wedgie or a face full of--" Peter, why was your question essentially "his face or his ass?"
The moments that stick out to me are the ones where Peter is feeling emotional, like when he's saying he should have told Johnny he thought he was bright more in Amazing Spider-Man #657 after Johnny sacrificed himself in the Negative Zone, or when he tells Gwen he's "her Peter" again when he's with Johnny in Spider-Man/Human Torch #3, but also when he's protective of Johnny, like in Marvel Team Up #121, when Speed Demon knocks Johnny to the ground.
"And while a worried Spider-Man turns his attention toward the injured Johnny Storm..."
The lift hug in Fantastic Four #601 is a big one, but I also like this little moment in FF #16 after Johnny gets back from the Negative Zone where Peter is just touching Johnny.
The little hand on the shoulder in the background is so sweet. I think in general Peter is really physically affectionate, and that's kind of his default way to show affection. So this touchiness with Johnny here I think is very telling of his affection.
Same thing in Fantastic Four v5 #12 and #14, when Wyatt and Peter have confronted Johnny, spiraling over the loss of his powers and his family's separation, and later when Peter's chauffeuring Johnny around.
Just the way he's kind of hovering protectively on the wall while Johnny's talking comes off as very affectionate to me. Like, he's not interrupting, he's not trying to take over the conversation, he's just there for Johnny.
Same thing with Empyre: Fallout Fantastic Four.
They're not big moments, but just stuff like Peter being very physically present and touchy with Johnny always strikes me as important. I think a lot of Peter's affection comes out in his protective streak and in the way he wants to show up for people, even if he's just got their back, and those are some of the moments that stick out to me in regards to how he feels about Johnny.
Real argument Spideytorch has had on a mundane day: Johnny trying to convince Peter that Johnny could totally be an evil mastermind, he could be so bad, he could be worse than Doc Ock or Green Goblin Peter why are you laughing it’s not funny he can definitely be a villain the worst of the worst stop laughing at him he’s being so serious right now Peter Peter please
Im scheming…

Two half gay men
What's the other half?
Eris is one of the only people who can keep up with Nesta on the dance floor, Bryce is a dancer, Lucien as a courtier can certainly dance, Gwyn and Azriel can sing songs for Nesta to dance to, Nesta is constantly compared to a queen and Helion wants her (Rhys too but he’s in denial) and Lanthys promises to crown her the queen of queens, Nesta loves reading and so does Lucien, Tamlin canonically has a giant library and so does Helion, and you’re telling me Nesta ended up with…that.
More of Nesta moving to the Spring Court instead of the House of Wind.
Idk what SJM is doing here but she's testing my patience
Eris literally warned Nesta that if she stayed with the Night Court, she’d risk her ruin… and honestly the narrative keeps proving him right.
JUST A REMINDER THIS HAPPENED AT HER OWN HOUSE :
“face was nearly vacant”
“She sounded thin, brittle”
“Nesta had that look, too. Like she was processing a lot of things.”
“Nesta’s shoulders tensing, her head bowing.”
“her fingers surprisingly cold”
“that bruised look lingered in her eyes”
“The pain in her eyes-the guilt-seemed to deepen.”
“A muscle ticked in her jaw. Like she was holding back a giant wave of raw emotion. Only a wall of steel kept it at bay.”
like oma?? this is NOT a woman who is okay 🙄 every single description is giving “barely holding it together” but we’re supposed to believe this environment is good for her??
Day 7 of Eris week @erisweekofficial free day !
Something fun and cute. Eris ships and Eris making amends with his baby bro :3
