Who are you?

The upholstry was soft and cushiony, that was the first thing she noticed after popping the small suitcase into the car’s boot and sliding onto the seat next to the Doct…Ronnie. It was difficult to resist the temptation to bounce up and down a bit with the beaming grin still plastered to her face. Even harder still not to sniff the leather and peer between her legs to see what was under the seat. The dashboard was thrilling too, all those classic Earth 21st century knobs and buttons and the heating system and radio, not to mention needing badly to open the glove compartment to see what was inside.
But with itchy, twitching fingers, she managed to keep herself under control. Mainly by sitting on her hands so she really couldn’t move. All she could do was beam at her doctor and attempt to conduct a normal human conversation appropriate with their surroundings and time period, in the hope that he might accept her as a native of sorts and then she would be able to keep him.
Or he would keep her. Either way she had to make sure he was safe and looked after until she could figure out how to restore his true identity.
“I simply couldn’t imagine living anywhere else in the world, you know? London really was - has been - is the epicenter of so much activity…I mean, events. Saint Paul’s cathedrale has been inv…umm….”
Perhaps mentioning alien invasions wasn’t such a normal part of human conversation?
“-Inv…ented with so many columns, and that giant helmet on the top is just…well.. sometimes I just stop to gaze at it for hours. You know what I mean?” She had decided after downloading several popular videos and listening to recordings of interactive speech patterns, that ‘you know what I mean’ was a necessary addition if she wanted to sound like a normal human being.
Okay, now his head hurt.
Columns and giant helmet? Surely she knew St Paul’s after living her so long...though drugs...education wise she’d probably lost a lot of her memory.
“--You mean The Whispering and Stone Dome? the whole place is an art gallery now--” he added signalling right and rubbing the back of his neck.
“--A few roads have changed since we last met and edgeware road is no longer a dump, its masses with restaurants and high-end shops these days--” he smiled.
“--Can you remember that corner?--” he pursed his lips thinking about one of the nights he recalled meeting a dealer. He could have sworn the tall women in the alley had been her. He blinked hard as lights flashed across his memory and turned into the car park. Headlights? Headlight weren’t blue.
He pulled the car to a stop in his reserved spot behind his flats. Maybe his theripist would be right, maybe bring her back into his life would be bad. He already felt off. But no matter, his doctor side told him he had a duty of care...a duty of care under oath and he’d see it was done.
“--Duty of care...--” he muttered under his breath as he climbed from the car.
