eah will always do something like drop crazy, earth-shattering, lore-bending pieces of world building thays adds 100+ new implications by having it in the writing on some back of a bookmark in a doll that was only released for one week and just never mention it again.
Daring: I'm glad you and Apple are good friends, Darling! She'll be part of our family someday after all
Daring, at Apple and Darling's wedding: I didn't meant it like that
I remember seeing something a bit ago, not sure about the context or who by, about how Daring does genuinely care about Darling, and I just wanna point out this small moment in Dragon Games.
Despite all the chaos and the fact he was going crazy just seconds before this, he looks at Darling so genuinely here. Like you can see the affection he has for her so clearly. I really wish we got more of the Charming siblings together. We got a fair bit of Daring and Dexter, some of Darling and Daring in Dragon Games. But then Dexter and Darling were completely abandoned, I can only think of 2 scenes with both of them in it and they hardly interact if at all. It's so strange considering they were the closest in the books. And again I can only think of those 2 scenes with all three of them together, little to no interaction.
Is it a controversial opinion that I don't want EAH to come back?
Don't get me wrong, it will be wonderful to see EAH again and have new content but I don't think Mattel will not serve us that kind of quality media and 2d animation in this day in age.
As someone who loves dolls, I sometimes wish that EAH isn't a doll line and be a book series or a normal cartoon series instead so it will be given a proper ending and not being abruptly cancelled because the dolls doesn't sell well. Also there's the descendants thing but I don't really care about that franchise.
My dappling thought fixation for today is Darling and Snow having a massive rivalry. They would literally be the embodiment of the "Mother in law hates her son in law and son in law hates his mother in law" comedy bit. I could see Darling doing small, silent things that piss off Snow but fly under Apple's radar. Like when they're getting in a carriage, Snow starts to make room for Apple on her side but oh no, Darling's already got her hands on her waist telling her "Come here, love." They'd be so subtle Apple and King White wouldn't even know they've been arguing for the past 5 hours.
Rosabella, about Daring: I can fix him.
Darling: Please do.
Late pride post <3
something that i'm still upset about to this day is the ending of 'a semi charming kind of life' where it's revealed that it wasn't dexter that gave Darling the book she wanted but her mom.
I remember the first time I read it thinking that the twist was going to be that it was actually Daring. and honestly? I think that would've been a better twist. While I like the idea that the whole charming family are very different people behind their public personas the idea of Darling taking after her mom just didn't click. I think it also undermines the significance of Darling's character if there's an abundance of other charming woman that are also secretly the same.
It felt wrong that Daring wasn't a major player in the story. I also just never bought the idea that he didn't know what was up at all. I think revealing Daring to also be *surprised gasp* a real person with depth, would've made for a better and more satisfying reveal. I guess the idea of the charming parents being more supportive than they seem is nice, but i think that coudl've been expressed wihtout the ending. and is also altogether not as signfigant as doing something with the huge gap of story that is Daring charmings character. with how the book delves into Darling's relationship with Dexter it felt incomplete that it barely even touched on her relationship with Daring. Esspecially sense we have seen Dexter's relationship with Daring.
I think what makes this lack of attention to Daring's character more frustrating is that unlike with some of the other male characters like Hopper, Sparrow, and Humphrey, who are essentially blank slates, leaving their potential entirely up to fandom. Daring comes SO close to getting some of that potential fulfilled. His role in a wonderlandiful world, his potential romances with Lizzie and Cerise (cerise more so than Lizzie, as I think his romance with Lizzie had more character development potential for Lizzie than himself) EPIC WINTER (which I think would have been peak if they exluded the rosabella romance, as while I fucking adore beast!daring I think it's a real shame that they bassically tossed his previous relationships out the window.) looping back around to wonderlandiful world while I undertand that it boils down to the tonal difference between the book and show, I always appreciated how Daring came off as all together more of a genuine character in the books, where as the show kinda just uses him for comedic relief.
and then once again with a semi charming kind of life, while it was admittdly, entirely imagined by myself, i felt like there was yet another glaringly obvious missed oppurtunity. I also think it could've added something to Darlings character also.
Can we talk about it how soft and loving Ramona’s face looks here??
The animators did such a good job of giving her small moments of looking softer, I love the way she stares at Justine at the end of Moonlight Mystery
I just ended up on a rabbit hole of eah doll videos and came across this old commercial where Darling is described as "A hero and a charmer." I will never be the same.
*In princessology during Class Confusion*
Raven, eating a macaron: These taste like soap...
Briar: That might be fake, sis.
Ashlynn: Some of these are fake. Are you eating a fake one?
Raven:...
Briar: *cackles*
I'm thinking about the concept of someone going through Apple's diary, finding a page dedicated to things like the word "Darling" circled in hearts. But Apple of course couldn't be in love with a princess, so they assume it's a nickname and start an anonymous search through the school, trying to find this mysterious Prince Darling, not realising it is, in fact, the Darling Charming herself.
I think my favourite thing about ever after high having such a large cast is how it near enough eliminates background characters. Rather than having them they really put the effort into putting the actual characters in the background. It's so fun to rewatch the episodes and spot your favourite characters, and seeing how they interact with each other when the focus isn't on them.
Dappling headcanons🍎🗡
Darling is always there for the few nights that Raven spends the night elsewhere. She sneaks in past curfew and her and Apple cuddle up the whole night. They both know Raven wouldn't necessarily mind if Darling spent the night every now and then, but it just wasn't the same with company.
(Married) Darling doesn't talk about her father much. She's a little more likely to talk about her mother, but the mere mention of her father makes her quiet up. At first, Apple felt bad, like she hadn't made herself a safe enough space. But, eventually accepted it. While it might heal her to talk about her mother with Darling, it just opens old wounds for Darling.
They both have different ways of rubbing each other's backs. Apple uses her, usually long, nails to scratch Darling's, gently running them over her. Darling utilisises her fingers and palms, massaging into Apple's back and shoulders.
They kiss a lot. There was a point where Darling thought her lips would never get to touch Apple's, so she'll take any kiss, anytime, anywhere, for however long.
Darling doesn't like warm coffee, only iced, because it's sweeter. Apple says she has a sweet tooth. When getting her drink order, Apple assumes iced before Darling even says it, and she has Darling's go-to memorised.
