the fit you pull up in to kill your non-human boyfriend that you're in love with for the sake of humanity
I think if you like Alchemised by SenLinYu, you might like the manhwa My Beloved Oppressor by LICO. It has a novel as well but I don't think it's officially been translated to English. So I love Alchemised for a plethora of reasons. It's dark, it's painful, yet somehow it makes you want Helena and Kaine to just be happy together. There will always be those (literally Kaine Ferron himself) that think Helena would be better off without him, but part of their tragedy is that they choose each other every time.
It's kind of the feeling I get when I read My Beloved Oppressor. I love the plot, but it's the character depth that got me really invested. Plot summary:
When the hand that used to so lovingly hold Annette Rozenberg ends up being the one that causes the downfall of her family, Annette demands that Heiner Waldemar give her a divorce. But Heiner refuses, stating that he must see her miserable by his side, no matter what. At odds, the two continue a precarious relationship, only to be met with wounds of the past that bring them tragically together.
It may be one of the only lovers to "enemies" I've seen. I don't want to simplify it to just that but the way their dynamic is so painful because on one hand, they were once a normal couple so in love but was any of it even real? How could it have been? And yet it was, yet it is. I liked the slow unraveling of both Kaine and Heiner's past. I've said it before but it's like watching a train crash, knowing you're helpless to stop it. But it's also the most beautiful crash you've ever seen. My Beloved Oppressor also has really good social commentary. Annette is kind of like Marie Antoinette, in the sense that you can kind of understand the anger the common people had, but it was so misdirected. Heiner is the very definition of this:
“You are so much more than what the war has done to you.” ― SenLinYu, Alchemised With regards to the title, I promise it is not what you think and I swear it will make sense when you read it. It's actually one of my favorite titles. Neither Alchemised nor My Beloved Opressor are perfect stories, but they are both meaningful reads that feel tragically real.
spoilers for my beloved oppressor ahead i love this story for so many reasons but one in particular is that after annette loses her child, she isn't able to have any more and i like that it stays that way because sometimes that's just how cruel reality is like there's no magic in their happy ending in which they're able to conceive a child and i like that the author respects the story enough to keep it that way because it happens to so many people in real life and often miracles don't happen
ok olivia rodrigo i see u
saw this new manhwa it's giving andrew and luke but possibly toxic??
i know sometimes bl gets a lot of hate for certain things and i'm not saying that's a take without any reason but some of the most beautiful stories i've ever read come from this genre
dohun kind of reminds me of johan
if you like killing stalking, the warehouse, what reverse thinking could've been, what a tree without roots could've been, and generally enjoy messed up indulgent psychological bls i recommend yuwon everlasting/unchanged man because holy shit it's insane
like we're finally in their backstory rn and i really should've waited until it's finished because i'm going insane waiting for the new chapters
it's been months and i'm still mourning over my manhwa website
divas that mog
i aspire to be as stable in life as an average romantasy slop tiktok famous "i write strong women and spicy smut" white woman that lives with her husband mark, her dog Biscuit, her cat Kimchi, and their two lovely sons in the middle of suburban usa where the sun is always shining but her real home is actually between the pages of the stories she read as a child
MY RIZZFULL KING IS BACKKKK
Am I the only one who thought that, as a whole, Jinx was kind of "go girl give us nothing"? I think we all objectively know it is morally and ethically bad, in the sense that, this may be the most trope-filled, most cliched BL to BL in recent times. However, I am a trash panda that loves hot garbage. So that wasn't really the problem for me. I think it was the most interesting around the time that Kim Dan decided to preserve whatever dignity he had left and run. Like there was all that drama about that one chopped guy sending drugs to Jaekyung. Idk it was like, fun toxic. I think I honestly wanted more plot (shocker, I know)??? Like??? Okay, for example, I recognize Passion is like... "bad" because of the stuff that goes on in it but I love it. It's so toxic and so interesting, and for some reason, Jinx falls short with that. Like maybe I actually did want more of a focus on him as a boxer. Maybe I wanted it to not end after the redemption arc. Idk the whole thing kind of felt like microwaving day old white rice instead of just cooking more rice. Thoughts?
what y/n could've been wearing instead

i actually love when a character fucks up so badly that no matter what they do in the future, even if they get back together with the love interest, it is never going to be truly the same as before while that doesn't mean what they have now is any less meaningful, there will always be this lingering sadness of what could have been
