2016 holiday card created for DK Vine. Physical postcards featuring this image were sent to Rare, Playtonic Games, and Retro Studios (all developers of games featuring elements in the card image) as well as all the supporters of DK Vine’s Patreon.

Amid DKVine’s twitch stream of Banjo-Tooie, shenanigans in the chat let to Leigh Loveday and Chris Allcock of Rare completely making up describing two previously unseen characters, Extinguisho and his sidekick Dreadful Thomas, responsible for putting out various factory fires and covering the workers in soot in the Grunty Industries level respectively.   I used the premise as an excuse to finally practice 3d modeling uh totally dug up the VERY REAL models and textures for the two characters buried in the game data uh yeah, that’s it. Dreadful Thomas’ visage is censored, because his canon backstory is that he uses visual representations of himself to steal other people’s faces.  His canon backstory.

Redid my Donkey Kong map with higher-fidelity in the interest of maintaining detail at larger print sizes than its initial postcard-sized run. I had some of these at MAGFEST 2016 to give out in various sizes for free to fans, friends, and fellow artists in attendance.  One also went to MAGFEST guest Grant Kirkhope: to my surprise, a couple I gave away even ended up with his autograph!
