When Jenny had told Cameron that Charlie was coming to stay for the summer, the blonde tried to act cool and casual. She'd known Charlie for a few years now, and each time he visited, she found herself more and more drawn to him. How could she not be? They loved the same books, she could talk to him for hours, he was damn cute and she always harbored a bit of a crush on him. Usually when he visited, she was always seeing someone - typically some guy that she only kind of liked, nobody she really felt as much of a connection with as Charlie - but for the first time, she was single. She didn't know what that would mean for the summer ahead, but considering the butterflies she got whenever he was around, she was a bit excited to find out.
Cameron slept through Charlie's arrival, but the next morning, woke up bright and early in a dress, with her hair nicely done, causing Jenny to laugh as she strolled into the kitchen. "He's, like, completely knocked out, Cam, so that's going to waste. Cute dress, though, can I wear it tomorrow?" Cameron rolled her eyes and shrugged, "I have no idea what you're talking about." Jenny laughed even louder, covering her mouth so she wouldn't wake up Charlie. "Really? Come on, each time he's here, you two are always off in your own little world, giggling and whispering together. You're so into my cousin and he's so into you. But hey, what do I know, I'm just the third wheel for the Cam and Charlie Flirting Variety Show." Cam giggled and stuck out her tongue at Jenny, who continued, "Now, I'm going to go be a responsible roommate and run errands and shop for us. Let's get drinks tonight, yeah?" Cameron nodded, "Yeah, that sounds good." Jenny - who had essentially become Cam's best friend - nodded and made her way out of the door, with Cam calling out after her, "Be safe, and get me candy please!"
Disappearing to her room for a bit, she sprawled out on her bed and thought for a bit. After college, Cameron found herself in a weird period - stuck between her wild years and becoming an adult. Currently, she was trying to dodge her father's orders that she should go into design like him, while secretly wanting to pursue her dream of acting. She was always performing at the local theater and going to auditions. Jenny told her to just tell her dad to shove it and follow her dreams, but Cam was always a bit afraid of him. In the midst of her own thoughts, she dozed off again and when she woke up, the sun was setting. Her hair was now a scruffy mess and her dress was wrinkled. Stepping out in the kitchen, she noticed that Jenny was still gone - but that Charlie was finally awake.
"O-oh, hey, hi," she stammered out, trying to ignore the fact that a simple towel was all that he was wearing. And that he had a damn good body. Averting her eyes from all the places she really wanted to look, she smiled shyly at him. "Oh, no, I just sort of woke up myself. No, you shouldn't put on clothes! I - I mean, you... you don't have to, if you don't want to. Um, because, you know... we're in the land of the free?" Blushing at her own stupidity, Cameron cleared her throat and hugged him tightly, her fingers lightly running down his back, but she quickly caught herself before she lingered too long. "I missed you, too. A whole lot, actually." Meeting his eyes, she softened slightly and smiled at him. "It's really good to see you, Charlie. So, um, we're going out for drinks when Jenny gets back, so I should, um, get dressed." Nodding at him, she let out a nervous laugh before disappearing to her room, completely mortified that he had to see her looking like crap. She took a deep breath and tried not to imagine Charlie in his towel... and Charlie out of his towel... and suddenly wanted Jenny to just come home already, unsure of what could happen if she was left alone with Charlie for too long.
A few hours later, Jenny had arrived, and the trio headed towards the girls' favorite bar, an all girls-place where Jenny was known as the hottest one there. When Jenny wasn't in the mood to be hit on and just wanted a few drinks, Cameron would pose as her girlfriend, and it was fun for them. Sitting in a booth, Cameron scooted in close to Charlie, trying to ignore the rush she got every single time his hand even brushed against hers. Sure, it had been awhile since Cameron had sex, but it was really just a natural reaction Charlie elicited from her.
"I'll get us beers," Jenny said with a knowing smirk, disappearing into the crowd. Cameron blushed and turned to Charlie, "She thinks we want to, like, rip each other's clothes off," she explained, though the red that came across her cheeks at the very thought didn't go a good job of convincing him that that wasn't exactly was she thinking. "I mean, sheesh, can you imagine it? Us? Just going at it? I get the feeling that you're one of those guys that probably slowly removes a girl's clothes... and has lingering touches and..." Cameron stopped herself, as the very thought lead to a heat between her legs. Clearing her throat and forcing out a laugh, she added, "But that's silly, anyway." Perking up when Jenny arrived with the beers, she grabbed a bottle and immediately took a long sip, trying to relax her nerves.
A bit longer, she finally felt relaxed enough to just be around Charlie without being a blushing mess. They sat in the booth while Jenny danced with a girl, talking about favorite books and sharing funny stories, Cameron always a giggling mess whenever Charlie was around. "Hey, let's dance," she said with a slight smile, nudging his leg under the table. "I promise, my dance moves have gotten much better since last time you were here." Pulling him out onto the dancefloor, she laughed as they both realized how awkward they were, "Here, no, it's like this," she said with a soft laugh, placing his hands on her hips and smiling up at him. Her shirt that rided up a bit, so his fingers occasionally brushed over the skin of her stomach, a sensation that Cameron did her best to ignore. "There, isn't that much better?" She looked up at him and bit her lip, with his adorable smile and perfect laugh, and the blonde did her best not to make it obvious that her knees had gone weak. Just as she was going to move closer to him, Jenny stumbled over to them and draped her arms around them, slurring slightly, "Guys, I think I'm drunk."
Cameron let out a soft laugh and nodded, "Yes, I think you are, too. Come on, let's, um, let's get you home, dork." Her eyes briefly met Charlie's as she wondered what could've happened if she had enclosed the space between them. As Charlie sat with Jenny in the back of the car, Cameron tried to clear her head of all the spinning thoughts. This was just her first day with Charlie... how could she last the whole summer when all she could think about was his touch, his smile, and his kiss?
Once Cameron had changed Jenny into her pajamas and put her to bed with a glass of water and aspirin, she tried to sleep on her own, but found herself tossing and turning in bed. Pulling on a sweater, she stepped out onto the balcony, where she found Charlie, too. "Hey," she said gently, smiling as he turned around. "Couldn't sleep either?" She looked out at the view, a light breeze washing over them, before she tapped his shoulder and asked, "Hey, do you wanna go for a walk?"
