Syd
So, Syd may have brought my Aaliyah meets Janet Jackson fantasy to life with her album Fin and that was great and all but something feels even better about her recent 3 track release Always Never Home.
A bit more fresh, a bit more Syd...
EarthGang
Cherished and loved, EarthGang is a prized possession of the “A”. So it is only right that their latest EP Rags be a great representation of the southern classic yet rapidly growing city of Atlanta.
With a balance of smooth cruising melodic beats and lyrical urgency, I can attest to this 5 track EP being just ASS enchanting as the EP artwork featured above.
Abra
Our mysterious musical millennial did it again…

Alex Wiley
Don't think Drill when you think Chicago think Alex Wiley. A pretty strong statement that should probably be taken lightly, or not. This 24 year old Wiley’s newest release Village Party III: Stoner Symphony is a fine portrayal of the conscious “millennial” voice and the culturally enriched city in which he hails from, Chicago.
On this 2017 release, Alex teams up with Electronic guru Mike Gao and I'm telling you, there is something special brewing in hip hop and it's a fusion guided by the youth.
With their collaborative spirits and need to jump genres, slightly unknown artist like Alex wind up on playlist along side artist like J.cole, Chance The Rapper and the Raury types of the world.

Kamaiyah
Bonafide barbecue bangers, is exactly what Kamaiyah serves us with her debut album A Good Night in the Ghetto. Oakland native, stays true to that classic Cali tune that manages to keep every poolside jumping.
Kamaiyah, has an act for storytelling so with every song and perfectly placed interlude we get a chance to know Kamaiyah a little bit more. She gives us an uptempo interpretation of ghetto hope on How Does it Feel and her “bottom to the top” anthem, I’m On is another honest yet inspirational track found on this album.
A feature from California artist YG makes the cut on her single F**k It Up, Im expecting to hear this all summer long. Along with Out the Bottle , her carefree style and respect for Hennessy is very relatable on this track.
A solid body of work ready for your summertime functions.

Father
Our Father, founder of Awful Records has done it again. Recently releasing his 2016 project, I’m A Piece of S**t. Father is a huge contributor to today’s Atlanta sound, though not fully recognized, I say give it time.
His music is genius, in a way that it feels familiar in the newest sort of way. I find him to be a beast at placing my mind back in time. Tracks like Party on Me (feat. I LOVE MAKONNEN & Ethereal) may give you a reminder of the popular Trillville- Some Cut era. Or maybe that one line in Spit or Swallow (feat. Micah Freeman) may Inspire you to go play Jay Z’s I Just Wanna Love U.
With XXX poetry, beats and vibrations in full effect, this album is especially perfect for riding out and blazing blunts.
Previously recommend track: Why Don’t U (feat. Abra & I LOVE MAKONNEN)
