The amount of streaming services there are is absolutely ridiculous. I’m sure it’s becoming more expensive than cable already. Well, I’m glad I rather pick up a book and learn something rather than sit in front of a tv and learn nothing for hours. Most people don’t. Yes, and that person will be me. I just find it to be the most beautiful and terribly complex in the best way possible. Each piece speaks wonders.

Now you’re starting to sound like my dad. Does it have to be either or? I love a good book sometimes, but I’ll never say no to a documentary. And as much as I love learning, sometimes your brain needs a break and some time to just enjoy watching something for the sake of watching it. Are you saying you’ve never watched a show or movie just for fun? Huh. I’ve never looked at it that way. I think Kadir Nelson might be my favorite artist. I never studied art the way you have, but his work is beautiful.

Awww, thank you. She makes it really easy to talk sweet about her. I know she is brutally honest and she says she likes everything I get her, but a guy can’t get too comfortable in that. That’s a very good idea, I can’t be trusted in buying her clothes without her or her friend’s input. Sometimes I have questionable taste; her words. Wow, a day of shopping is an amazing idea, she would love that. Breakfast in bed is one of my favorite things to do for her. These are all great ideas and I will probably end up doing them all.

I’m sure she does. It sounds like you know her well, then. If she loves fashion so much, I think having “questionable” taste is pretty good. I’m sure there are much worse words she uses to describe what other people pick out. All of them? I don’t think you have anything to worry about then. You’re going to make her a very happy birthday woman next month.

My wife’s birthday is next month and I need someone to help me brainstorm what I can get for her. A little bit about her is that she’s perfect and nothing I get her will be good enough. But, okay, for real she’s really into fashion and she likes pink, gold, and silver. She hates doing house stuff, she loves shoes, and listening to new music I’ve never heard of. Help me.

The way you talk about her is sweet. I have a feeling she’ll be happy with whatever you do. I don’t know if I’d get her any clothing or anything fashion-related unless you get it approved by her friends first. That kind of stuff can be tricky. Maybe a shopping day where you take her out and watch her try everything on? And then treat her to a romantic dinner. Stuff like breakfast in bed and flowers is always a nice touch too.

That’s oddly specific. It sounds like you did exactly that. I truly hope I never use it on you because that is not the tone I ever which to covey with you. Yes, a day. Among other days. I’m more than okay with that. It’s very sweet of you, and I hope you’ll enjoy my all-black athletic wear.

I didn’t do anything, but some boys in my grade did right before the end of the school year and didn’t realize just how many cameras were hidden on campus. As long as you don’t pull the “I’m disappointed in you” card, then I think we’ll be okay. I’m down with as many days as you want. I don’t think I could ever not enjoy that.

A day with you is all I really want, but I suppose we should be active and save the tv and movie marathons for down the road.

Hey, I said I see the appeal. Not that I spent my senior year graffitiing the walls of the school. No need to use your teacher look on me yet. A day with me? Now you’re just trying to make me blush. A movie marathon definitely sounds like a must, but I need to buy you a coffee and climb some rocks first.

That definitely sounds correct. It’s more about sneaking around than actually doing whatever it is they are doing. I’ve never felt very rebellious before though, so I can’t say I completely understand it. The bakery? Once or twice. I do like to plan, but we can take it step by step; we’ll have a good time no matter what. Yes, I’ve been before unless you mean actual rocks, then no. I enjoy the outdoors, but I am not that athletic.

I was never the most rebellious kid, but I do see the appeal of that rush from getting away with something. Nothing that ever had to be done in a school bathroom, though. No, definitely no actual rocks, but baked goods, plastic rocks, and a day with you sounds like a pretty good time to me.

Of course. Now, I don’t believe that. I think people always have time to read but they choose not to as they rather do something else. With geography/cartography, not only would I be responsible for making and updating maps, but also travel guides and restoring historical documents. Art history is more straight forward as I’m learning about the history of art, which is more out of interest and enjoyment than a future career but I also like to keep my options open. Renaissance art has been my favorite, so far.

Can you blame them? We’re living in a time where everyone has access to a dozen streaming services. Knowing that Netflix or Disney + are available can destroy a lot of motivation to pick up a book, no matter how good it might be. Huh. I guess I never even realized those are career options, but it makes sense; someone has to do it. What about Renaissance art makes it so interesting?

Okay but like, it’s embarrassing when you’re attracted to the gay guy you’re hanging out with. I love that you added in ‘slim chance.’ I don’t really consider myself to be a party girl, but more like a girl who is down for almost literally everything. That sounded gross but I swear it was only a little bit. You totally missed out, face masks are a must at any sleepover.

I don’t think that’s embarrassing. A guy being gay doesn’t mean he’s not going to be attractive to women. Just, like, don’t be one of those girls who thinks she can make a grown man suddenly realize he hasn’t been gay all this time just because he hasn’t met her yet. Hey, you never know, okay? Men have been known to do the most just to get with a girl. What kind of ‘everything’ are you into if not partying?

God, I hope I’m not doing engagement photos by then. But you would be such a gorgeous bride, I wouldn’t be able to say no. You love packing? I know who I’m calling when I ever need to pack again. That’s true though, unpacking is even worse. I’ve only been out of the country once and it was fun, I would recommend it. Oh, I can do that. I took a bartending class for a hot minute, so I can make something yummy for you.

Well, thank you, but I couldn’t ask you to go back to your days of engagement photos just for me. Honestly, the idea of being engaged isn’t even on my radar right now, so I don’t know if I can even think about that for longer than a second. I’d do it. I love organizing everything I’ll need and making it fit into one suitcase. Maybe it’s because I haven’t traveled anywhere in a while and I’m just looking for an excuse to pack and leave. Where did you go? You took a bartending class? I may have to take you up on that offer, and hopefully learn a thing or two while I’m at it.

A few slow days is fine, but I was starting to get restless. I was thinking someplace close like New York, but a nice beach could be fun too. I just need to get out of Vermont for a few days and get a chance of scenery.

I definitely am, I agree. Exactly. Sometimes it benefits more to see things visually than in words. To put it simply, yes, I suppose that’s what I want to do. Of course, it’s more complicated than that.

I totally get that. And they take less time too. Unless it’s a docuseries, a documentary can be watched in a couple of hours. A lot of people just don’t have time to read anymore. I know I don’t, but that’s what audiobooks are for. Do explain. I haven’t studied geography or art history, but I can keep up.

It must be my scientific brain, I like having an answer for everything. Oh, we’ve had our fair share of bathroom incidents. That, I will never get. You’re going to get caught eventually, at least do something outside or nowhere near a school. Saturday? I can do Saturday. Do you have anything in mind?

It must be. I’m sort of the same way. It’s the rush of getting away with it. They like doing what they know they shouldn’t. It’s like when you tell someone not to do something and they instantly want to do it more. Have you been to Barrio? We could start from there and figure it out as we go. Unless you’re a planner; then I could totally put something more together. Have you ever been rock climbing?

I went along with a few friends from school. I definitely get the busy schedules though. Spring Break couldn’t come fast enough. I’m not sure I’m really prepared for how crazy life can get. Have things slowed down for you?

You know, I complained so much about things being crazy, and now I’m paying for it. It’s been a slow few weeks, but I’m saving up to travel this summer so I have that to look forward to.

Well, look at you having a logical explanation for everything. Oh, I believe it. My sophomore year, some kids started a fire in the boy’s bathroom for no explainable reason whatsoever. Yeah? I’m free Saturday.

They really are. I’m almost positive they’re one of the most popular foods in our country. For a reason, of course. Oh, did I ruin the illusion for you? My apologies. Fire is definitely an attention catcher, and if I didn’t know that before becoming a teacher, I certainly do now. Those types of experiments are perfect on the days where getting my kid’s attention is close to impossible. Usually, the whole month of June there are a lot of fires in my classroom. Thank you, I hope so too. I don’t mind if none of them want to go into science, I just want them to be able to learn something new now.

Anyone who says they don’t love those fries is kidding themselves. I mean, it wasn’t something  I’ve been thinking about for the past eight or nine years, so I don’t know if I’d call it an illusion. Now I’m just picturing you lecturing about chemical reactions while walking around the room holding fire. But all jokes aside, I’m sure you have their attention more often than you realize. You’re very easy to listen to.

New York and Canada are close enough if you want to film there too but also get if you want to go further. I’m free Tuesday night so that sounds perfect. What do you drink?

It definitely sounds real to me. If I ever get engaged, I’ll definitely give you a call, but I doubt you’ll still be doing engagement photos by the time that happens. Oh, I love packing. It’s unpacking I have an issue with. It’s no fun when you’re done doing all of the traveling part. New York would be perfect. I’d really like to get out of the country too, but I’m going to have to serve a lot more steaks before that happens. My favorite drinks are the ones that pack a punch without tasting like it. Definitely anything with fruit.

I suppose that’s true. I just haven’t met many people who have watched many documentaries at all. They’re a fantastic educational tool, espeically for people who rather watch something than read. Of course you did. I’m majoring in geography and minoring in art history right now.

Sounds like you’re not hanging out with the right people. Wow. It’s totally the film version of an educational book. I never thought of it like that. Seriously? What do you want to do? Make fancy maps?
