Caine is not evil. Caine doesnāt want to be evil. Caine was not made to be evil. He is just.. oblivious.
See, hereās the thing. Caine is simply artificial intelligence, and his purpose is to pretty much create things and let whoever is joining him have fun. However, the actual main problem is that Caine does not actually comprehend basic human emotions. Look here.
Zooble is, and probably has many times, tried to express to Caine how they donāt even like their body because of how.. kinda mangled it is. Caine doesnāt seem to understand. Why? Well, two things. 1. He keeps getting distracted with things like drawing that bee. 2. He thinks that Zooble means that they just donāt like the fact that their body keeps comping apart. No. They mean that they want a new body, but Caine doesnāt get that because since itās the body he technically made for them, they have to stick with it.
Which leads me to a small minor detail.
When Pomni and the others were cursing Caine out and saying he was a horrible host, they say the following;
āYou only care about stroking your own ego instead of giving us things weād actually enjoy!ā -Pomni
āWhat kind of all-powerful being has such a fragile ego??ā - Zooble
āYou never let us feel like weāre at home! Youāve never bothered to understand what itās like in our shoes!ā - Ragatha
āYou never let us think our own way..!ā - Gangle
āYou lie to us CONSTANTLY.ā - Jax
(Just leaving that here, NONE of these are me trying to justify Caineās actions, Iām stating how this is probably whatās going through his man-made mind)
All of this comes back to Caineās major flaw.
Alright. In the beginning, we see Caine trying to convince himself that they actually like his little adventures or ideas. Heās trying to believe that heās doing something good. And plus, at other times, whenever hes told that they donāt like his adventures with some light reaction like āoh, donāt be ridiculous!ā
Zooble was right. He does have a pretty fragile ego. Like, when Bubble was saying that Caine was genuinely bad at being a good host and that the others would actually want to die rather than go on his adventures, and then Caine crashes out and actually announces to himself that he was god.
Now, to what Ragatha said. āYouāve never bothered to understand what itās like in our shoes!ā Because he doesnāt get it. A little later in the episode, Zooble says; āHeās not a human.. we canāt operate what he thinksā. He canāt operate what you guys think either. I mean, he created the circus, not YOU guys. He doesnāt understand humans.
āYou never let us think our own way!ā Like I said, he made the digital circus, which probably means that anything that they do he will probably think SOMETHING about it. But him giving them criticism from thinking their own way is probably his response to what they think, and what HE thinks is probably: āWhat? Thatās a strange way to do things.ā
āYou lie to us CONSTANTLY.ā This isnāt justifiable, but I think the reason Caine lies is because he thinks that certain things will make the others unhappy or simply just make them not want to go on adventures, in which they do anyway.
Hereās the creepiest and craziest thing about this episode.
Caine knew EXACTLY what they dread. He knew EXACTLY what would make them feel humiliated. Now, hereās the part where we go to the references. This part. Right here.
Next point. In the episode where Caine and Zooble have.. somewhat of a conversation, Zooble says āRagatha is too kind to speak up, Jax keeps fucking around, Kinger is INSANE, Gangle is to shy to speak up, and Pomni looks traumatized every time she comes back from an adventureā. The characters actually really dislike the adventures, but none of them have the courage to speak up about it.
I mightāve had a bad point with this post, but hereās my thing. How are the others just wearing a headset and yet they havenāt eaten, slept, shower, etc? How are they still alive in the real world? At first, I thought that Caine has actually manipulated their brains into thinking that they are physically in the digital circus. That may be it, but wouldnāt the characters be have scars or like, rips in their skin to show that their bodies are deteriorating in real life? Yeah, I actually donāt know-
