I absolutely adore Blue, i was so happy one of my favorite things actually has a Black character in it, a soft, whimsical Black character with a canon partner who would do anything for him (which we don't get to see often at all), but i just knew immediately people were going to be werid about him 😭 and were only a few days into chapter 5 being out and im already seeing people say things about him that scream "if he wasn't Black you wouldn't be saying this"

It sucks that whenever we get new Black characters\representation, its always questioned, must have some kind of "reason" to be there, or perceived as the worst or least likable aspect of said media, it happens every single time.

Prism got a lot misogynoir against her, Coupé is barley represented in Dispatch fanart, Jabber's Black identity was frequently questioned, Mel is frequently subjected to some of the worst mischaraciztion and misogynoir ive ever seen in a fandom so much so her VA was shocked at the response to her character, Jacinthe's soft demeanor and style were constantly questioned beacuse shes a dark-skinned Black woman, Nessa being drawn as a monkey and whitewashed to filth, Wyll is deeply hated in the bg3 fandom despite being the nicest character in the main cast, the reaction to Sam (The falcon) becoming the new Captain America, characters like Darwin, Jazz, Marina and even Aisha are constantly having their Black identity and coding questioned despite it being extremely obvious or even outright confirmed, I could go on, there are so many examples.
