Dream SMP really provides a wealth of interesting platonic relationships, even if it was developed under a culture that promoted self-deception and weird art drawn from sublimated urges. Going into other fandoms and it's just... so romance-focused.. The relationships and characters are interesting on their own, and you're shipping the two conventionally attractive young guys, one of whom is a side character who does not even like the other guy, who made an attempt on his life and was blatantly hateful and bigoted, with the genuinely kind main character who has kinda aroace vibes. Like, come on. And it's not even the most interesting relationship he has.

I know, I know, people can tell stories and play with toys however they please, but come on, man. It's like you take interesting blorbeauxs and just try to put them into romantic situations that feel very different from what made their stories actually interesting.

Pet peeve:

Linguists who claim that no words are truly "untranslatable", then launches into a 5000 word explanation of a concept that doesn't exist in the target language.

Look, I get that sometimes you need to modify existing concepts with an adjective/adverb or preposition, so I'll give you a few world. But it you need more than five words to "translate" a foreign one, you haven't translated it, you have explained or defined it, and the word is untranslatable.

For example, using some of the most common language examples from Swedish to English: the swedish word "mångata" is easily translated as "moonlight shining on still-ish water". "Fika", on the other and, could just be translated as "coffee break", but then you'd lose 98% of the context: it doesn't have to have coffee, it could be a lighter meal, like a snack, it doesn't have to be a break, it can happen at home, it's usually a very communal activity, but it doesn't have to be, but it if it is, it kind of requires you to sit down together, however briefly. The archetype has baked goods, like pastries or open face sandwiches, but I have friends who refer to their mid-morning rice cakes as fika because she can't have gluten. You see the issue. That wasn't a translation.

artfight attack for @chiimiraa of her character Citrus, made fully in blender. "nomad botanist" really spoke to me & i had the idea to have her explore a biome from my own home. hadn't originally planned to make a full scene but 17 hours later there i was. for sure the most involved piece i've done to date, pretty proud of it.

statistics for the blenderheads: 3287 objects, 2.5mil tris, 74 separate materials. all objects and shaders made fully by me apart from a single grass mesh. don't uhh don't look too hard at the water surface topology
