I wanted to reply to this, but replies are restricted. This is down to poor caretaking of domestic cats. None of this is a reason to be fearful of cats. Cats who are indoors only or leashed/on a catio outside are harmless to wildlife. And they are safer that way too. They won’t get in fights with other cats, or mauled by a dog, hit by a car, or killed by a coyote. Keep your cats indoors or leashed. Same with dogs, tbh. Let your dog run free in a rural area or in a fenced in yard. But don’t let them roam in the city or suburbs.

What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just “they know they’re safe now.” Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.

It’s genuinely horrifying on more levels than are easy to describe. Brouillette was hired during ICE’s recent hiring spree, as the agency attempted to rapidly staff up to manage a program of mass deportation. Brouillette has a long history of severe mental illness, a lengthy history of violence against at least two wives as well as his children, stalking, a seemingly endless list of restraining orders, violent threats against other family members and more. According to one relative, Brouillette was diagnosed with severe bipolar disorder as a child as well as attention deficit disorder, twice tried to commit suicide at age 12 and was hospitalized multiple times. These early issues appear to have been compounded by service in the military and deployments to Afghanistan which left him with an increased propensity to violence as well as PTSD. A relative told the AP, “They took someone who was extremely mentally ill and turned him into a killing machine.””

SERVICE DOG PSA

So today I tripped. Fell flat on my face, it was awful but ultimately harmless. My service dog, however, is trained to go get an adult if I have a seizure, and he assumed this was a seizure (were training him to do more to care for me, but we didn’t learn I had epilepsy until a year after we got him)

I went after him after I had dusten off my jeans and my ego, and I found him trying to get the attention of a very annoyed woman. She was swatting him away and telling him to go away. So I feel like I need to make this heads up

If a service dog without a person approaches you, it means the person is down and in need of help

Don’t get scared, don’t get annoyed, follow the dog! If it had been an emergency situation, I could have vomited and choked, I could have hit my head, I could have had so many things happen to me. We’re going to update his training so if the first person doesn’t cooperate, he moves on, but seriously guys. If what’s-his-face could understand that lassie wanted him to go to the well, you can figure out that a dog in a vest proclaiming it a service dog wants you to follow him

I enjoyed it. While it does not perfectly address the Native genocide as settlers moved west, it at least addresses it and gives Osege characters their own scenes. I won’t spoil, but one scene with a Osege elder gave me chills. And not in a “Native giving wisdom to a white person” way, but in a “fuck you white man” way.

I only vaguely remember the og series as I haven’t watched it since I was a child. I feel like the characterization of the Ingalls was consistent with the og. iPhone face was minimal. lol

It has been renewed for season two already as well.
