It’s been ten years since Steve and Tony’s cataclysmic, universe-destabilizing breakup (look, all we’re saying is that it ripped the team apart and then Thanos killed half the universe), and enough time has passed for the flames to die down. Maybe. But what hasn’t died down is our fandom’s love for drama, and Civil War is THE Steve/Tony event so happy divorce-sary, fellow angst fiends.
To celebrate the tin anniversary (what’s the divorce equivalent of a wedding anniversary? Smashing the tin? Well, Steve did crumple the man in a (not tin) can’s armor with his shield), we’re getting the party started with a chill-for-a-not-so-chill-movie event: a prompt fest centered around Steve and Tony’s relationship during and after CA:CW!
The event is chill because there’s no commitment: there are NO minimum work requirements and NO sign-ups required to participate. ALL fanwork types and ratings are welcome, and you can submit and fill as many prompts as you’d like during the event. It’s a fun way to kick things off and we hope you join! But if a prompt fest isn’t your thing, not to worry—once it’s over, we’re continuing the festivities with a mini gift exchange.
A quick note on what we mean by Steve and Tony’s relationship and CA:CW–we accept Steve and Tony entangled in any way, whether platonically, romantically, or sexually, and canon-compliant, canon-divergent, post-CA:CW, and crossover and fusion prompts/works are all welcome. Ultimately, though, this is a Steve/Tony CA:CW event, so the focus should be on Steve, Tony, and CA:CW; we have more info about this in our guidelines linked below.

Q: Why did you join the Big Bang? A: The Big Bang is an excellent challenge if you want to improve your writing or to develop an idea into a long form sustained story. So that's why I joined -- I find the Big Bang very helpful as structure to encourage me with long form writing. Q: What is your favorite Steve/Tony canon moment? A: My favorite is the Avengers Assemble episode "In Deep" where Steve and Tony basically flirt their way through a mission. Q: What did you love about working with your partner? A: I really appreciated their input on scenes when I'd left out details or hadn't thought about the body language. Q: What did you set out to do artistically in your fic, or what was your initial inspiration? Were you inspired by any media in the process of your creation, fanwork or otherwise? A: The first inspiration for the fic was a viral video in which a small podcast interviewed the GM of the Chicago Blackhawks and didn't recognize him and asked him hockey questions, including whether or not the draft had been rigged for the Blackhawks. That got me to thinking of what would happen if Steve or Tony were interviewed like that. I was also thinking of how you think your life is going to be when you're an adult when you're a kid, and how life turns about to be different, then how shitty things can happen and it's not anyone's fault that that shitty things happen but sometimes something nice can come out of that. So that's the background to what inspired the story. Q: If your fannish audience likes this art/fic, what other works of yours should they check out? A: Other works I've written like this one is Situtationship -- Steve isn't surprised that a clip of Tony appearing on his zoom meeting just wearing his thong went viral. He is surprised that his friends all think that it was a really weird way of making their relationship public. The thing is, he and Tony aren't dating and really aren't in any relationship. And Men of Inaction -- After being pushed through a portal in an AIM firefight, Steve and Tony find themselves trapped in a luxury resort. They suspect malevolent forces have captured them. But in the meantime, they have to solve puzzles on an island. And Tony keeps making spa appointments. Steve doesn't know what to do with himself and 'relax' is a foreign word to him. Then Tony starts to spend all his time with Steve. Can Steve figure why they are there, how to solve the puzzles, and what to do with his long-time crush on Tony? Q: What will you work on next? A: I need to figure out my next BB idea for when it happens again. But I'm currently developing some ideas about Tony learning about Captain America conspiracy theories and some social media style fics. Q: What is something you are reading, watching, or listening to and are currently obsessed with? A: I'm really looking forward to the new Lego Helicarrier coming out this summer -- Winter Soldier lego set!
