I am just not up with the times on this, and I acknowledge that. anyway, it bugs me when people use "dead dove do not eat" as a blanket statement/synonym for like, horror tropes? or triggering subject matter? or, whatever it is they mean? DDDNE just means that whatever the writer tagged their story with, they are not joking around about it and if you read it expecting that the tags were exaggerating, you will be wrong. You could use DDDNE about anything, technically speaking. You could tag a fic as "competitive pie eating contest meta" and also as dead dove, and that would be an accurate was of using the tag, so long as your fic really did involve discussions of competitive pie eating strategy in the plotline. I think it is too vague to act as a blanket statement for "dark subject matter" and honestly like what do you mean by dark subject matter? I need more details. Are we talking about killing and stabbing? Are we cannibalism? Am I about to read a story about heavy familial abuse? Or is it medical horror? Is it otherworldly? Please be more specific. :(
