Sometimes when I’m too tired for a five minute shower I take a two hour bath instead, because the shower demands that my brain transition from doing one thing (some activity that should not be wet) to another (standing up and being wet). And with baths it’s just like, keep doing what you were doing before, which was probably reading a book or watching YouTube clips of shows you don’t watch on your phone, except now, excitingly, you are naked and sitting in an increasingly tepid broth of your own body dirt. A shower is a new state of existence. A bath is a gentle liquid pool of mental continuity.
