Hello UNBEATABLE community. I come to you with a good ol' dose of Angst Au Material.
May I introduce you to my terrible beautiful creation:
The THINK OF THE CHILDREN AU.
[Warning for under the cut: UNBEATABLE spoilers, discussion of child death, mild blood, and general angst.]
It had been a tough decision, and one the public took to not greatly. Eve and Grace were still quite young after all, and the idea of abandoning their stardom to take care of their kid made many a fan mourn or seethe. Quietly, even Rest had conflicting emotions about being the only of the three that was not a member of their happy little family. Not that she would ever admit to that, of course.
And so came the day of their final show. The crowd roaring, emotions bubbling further, and further, and further. Eve, upon the stage, leans down to see little Quaver on the front row. And the emotions bubble, and bubble, until. There is Nothing.
And to Nothing comes a bang.
Grace was caught in the aftermath, when the Nothing began to tear into the crowd. He'd jumped in when he saw Quaver fall. And Eve... Eve survived. She couldn't save her. She didn't save her. She hesitated. How could she have hesitated. Once she came to her senses, Rest was already dragging her away. From her child. From her husband. From the crown of strangers, all gone. From the Nothing.
And so was the day that Silence came to be.
(Seven years later, a young Beat wanders around town, having convinced a reluctant Eve to show her where her band used to tour. All over are many billboards in this terrible cop blue shade, all saying the same thing, almost like a mantra.)

i LOVE the idea of "i can't win, but you can lose" in fictional confrontations it is SO fucking tasty. the human nature to self destruct and the human nature to survive by any means necessary combined at its finest.
Thinking about Kali again and how in the library she had be tricked and yet still been respected. Angela could have easily used the rest of the patron to fight Kali. Make her feel unsure and scared. I wonder if it again kindness from Angela hide behind efficiency of wanting the Red Mist at her peak (it probably is)
And it got me thinking about Gebura getting back a part of herself she has been denied and lobotomise from. Im thinking of her slipping back into the skin of her old life and still feeling so much more weaker. She has aged she will never reach that high anymore. Kali has been dead for 10 years and more already its time to let the dead dog lie.
