ever since she arrived in tree hill, sofie noticed a common thing. everyone here knew everyone else, and if you didn’t? it was hard to get in on the friendships. that wasn’t exactly why she was here though, granted a few people she could hang out with would be nice but she wasn’t about to cause a stir. the raven haired woman sat at a booth in karens cafe, enjoying her milkshake as she was reviewing one of the stories she was going to have to go over tomorrow morning for her broadcast when someone was walking past and she heard something smack against the ground. manicured red finger nails reach out, grabbing the cell phone and she held it up. “excuse me? i think this is yours, it fell when you were walking by.”

Logan had stopped at Karen’s to pick up some dinner for the evening. He wasn’t the best cook and since Hope wasn’t old enough to eat real food yet he only had to worry about himself. When they called he picked up his order and turned to leave, not even aware he had let his phone slip from his hand. Her heard a voice behind him and turned to see a woman holding his phone. “Oh! Thank you! I hadn’t even realized it had slipped.” He said with a self deprecating roll of his eyes and a grin.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know. Unless it will put my life or the life of someone I love in danger, I will never back down from a dare. I ended up in the ER once because someone dared me to jump into a pool from the second story. It would have been fine if I hadn’t overshot and landed outside the pool and broke my arm.

Where is your favorite place to travel and why? Or the one place you want to go I’ve always wanted to go to Germany. Their culture is rich and deep and their architecture is beautiful and honestly, who doesn’t want to order a beer with their fast food run?

What type of music do you like the most? What’s your least favorite? I’m a fan of Rock and Country but I could definitely live without modern rap. It makes no sense and sounds like gibberish.

Who’s the last person you texted? What did the text say? My mom. She was telling me to stay for dinner when I picked up Hope.

What was the last purchase you made? Diapers, Baby food.

What kind of car do you drive? 2017 Acura RDX

What strengthens you? My daughter, Hope. Everything I do, I do for her.

What is your definition of ‘love’? Someone who wants to grow with you and learn with you. Someone who supports your dreams and encourages you to be the best version of yourself. Someone who brings out your light when you’re drowning in darkness. But mostly, it’s choosing to love and be there for someone every single day of your life.

Do you believe in love at first sight? No. I think love is something you cultivate and work towards and something you choose everyday. I think it’s possible to feel a connection with someone right away but Love is more deep than that.

What is your idea of a perfect day? A day in the park with Hope, watching her fascination with the outside world and then dinner with my family.

If you died tonight, would you think you have live your life to the fullest? Yes and no. I’ve done so much and I always try to live like it’s my last day but there’s so much more I want to do.

Is there a feeling you are trying to ignore? What is it? Sometimes I feel like I’m not a good dad. Like especially with Hope getting older. There are things I don’t know about or things I won’t be able to help her with and it’s terrifying and heartbreaking.

Are you afraid of losing anything? Why? Hope, first and foremost. She’s my entire world. But all of my family mean the world to me. I wouldn’t have gotten through the toughest moments of my life without them.

Do you like your job, or do you wish you were doing something different? I love my job! I couldn’t imagine doing anything different.

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now? With my own Veterinarian practice, still doing my best to be the best dad I can be. Maybe married. We’ll see where life takes me.

Who is your hero in life and what qualities of him/her you desire the most? I have so many...My dad...for starters. He lost the love of his life and somehow managed to find his way back again. My mom. She loved me when she didn’t have to. My Grandparents. They always loved and protected me when I needed them the most. My brother and sister. Both of them have been through a lot and always manage to come out better than before.

Are you comfortable talking to strangers? Definitely. Meeting new people is part of the fun!

If you could change a thing about yourself and your past, what would it be and why? I would have been home sooner for more of Grace’s pregnancy. Maybe...things could have been different if I had been home sooner.

Are you happy with the life you live and the person you are? For the most part. There are things that I feel are missing but I know rushing those things would do more harm than good.

If you only have one more chance to talk to that one person, what would you say? I would tell her I’m sorry. I’m sorry I wasn’t home sooner. I would tell her that Hope looks just like her and she’s growing up so fast and that I wish she could be here to see it. I would tell her that I could have loved her and we could have had a beautiful life together. I would tell her that I miss her and that I’m grateful to have such an amazing guardian angel watching over us.

The frosting had tasted like carrot cake and and muffin had reminded him of some kind of green apple. It was a strange thing, but he truly loved it. Licking his lip, to make sure he didn’t have any frosting left around him mouth he said “who made this?” 

Logan stared at his youngest cousin in aw. “Dude...you’re like a human garbage disposal. I have no idea who made it. Where did you even get it? What does that even taste like?” The frosting was a light green and it sort of looked like carrot cake?

“…no, I’m being completely serious,” Sawyer insisted, though part of her wished she wasn’t. “I told him do work on his demo and he proceeded to tell me that I had absolutely no idea what I was talking about, couldn’t recognize real talent, and that I was missing out because apparently he’d been tapped to possibly appear on the next season of American Idol.” A story, despite Sawyer’s creative inclinations, not even she could make up.

“Isn’t American Idol kind of a chance thing? Like don’t they pull your name out of hat or something equally ridiculous? He sounds like a dick.” Logan said, shaking his head.

‘‘Please don’t get me wrong..’‘ Jamie said as he flicked through the stack of papers in front of him as he made an attempt to get them into some kind of order. ‘‘I love my kids,  they are the light of my life, honestly don’t know what I’d do without them.’‘ He rubs a hand across his forehead. ‘‘But when they’ve somehow managed to get into my work bag, literally two days before I start my new job and decide that all my lesson plans and homework outlines are for them to do arts and crafts with. I really have to debate about whether I really want to do this whole fathering thing or not.’‘ 

“I’ve gotta say, Jamie, you’re not making me look forward to this whole fatherhood thing.” Logan joked as he sat across from his cousin. “Are any of them salvageable?” He asked, gesturing to the papers in Jamie’s hands and spread across his desk.

“Did you want to come to mine and Marley’s place for the Super Bowl? I have lots of fun foods planned and obviously the game will be on in full force.” She grinned brightly. “And I promise I’ll be in full cheat day mode so I won’t force carrots and celery only down your throat. In fact, it’s entirely possible I have Pinterest board dedicated to Super Bowl themed food.”

          “If I wanted to know about your ‘big dick energy’, I probably would’ve given you any kind of hint.” The guy was persistent, she would give him that. But did she care for the topic of conversation with someone she had met all of five minutes ago? Of course not. “Doesn’t help that I’m engaged. Yep. To this lucky devil here.“ Immediately, her fingers went to grab just about anyone she could until an arm was amidst her grasp, whether or not they would allow her to drag them into this mess, well, that was another matter entirely.

Logan was completely caught off guard when he felt someone grab his arm and pull him towards them. His eyes widened only slightly when she spoke and then narrowed at the guy she was talking too, his arm instinctually wrapping around her waist. The number of times he’d had to play boyfriend in his lifetime was astounding and he could not for the life of him figure out why guys had to be such douchebags. “Yep, that’s me. Now, if you don’t mind, I’d like to get back to ordering our coffees.” He said with a scowl at the stranger.

“Good, ordering it now,” Noah nodded, placing the order with a few touch of his finger tips. “I get that and I appreciate the help, I really do. It’s just hard is all. I’ll get used to it eventually,” he sighed, “I could kick your ass with one arm, let’s be honest,” he let out with a laugh even though he knew it definitely wouldn’t be true. 

“Oh I have no doubt. I was never good at football. Basketball, sort of. Baseball, absolutely. Football? Terrible.” He laughed as headed out for another box. “Have they said anything about your healing time?” He asked when he walked back in the house.

Riley had downed her third cup of coffee and was looking more like a zombie than a person at this point. “I’m sorry, I missed all of that. Can you start over?” she apologized for zoning out while trying to listen to their story. “Nora forgot about her school project AGAIN and I had to stay up all night trying to build her a cabin out of popsicle sticks so that she could take it to school to decorate it today.  You should have heard me last night, I was dropping f-bombs left right and centre. I’ve never been more upset with a popsicle stick in my life.” She shook her head and laughed softly. “I swear I just need another cup of coffee and then I’m all yours. You’ll have my full attention!”

“Riles you don’t have to apologize to me.” Logan said, trying to be understanding on the outside but on the inside he was terrified. He knew he didn’t have long until he was in her position with Hope. “Call me next time. I’m pretty handy with a glue gun.” He joked with a grin, picturing her getting frustrated with a popsicle stick cabin.

Ryan was trying to pin down all his shirts as of late, they seem to be growing legs and running away from him -in fact, they have been on the women that leave his house in the wee hours of the morning so his niece never sees them or his siblings. So, here Ryan was on a slightly warm day wearing a hoody without a shirt underneath it and unzipped because he didn’t have a shirt. Turning to the person nearest him to tell them why he was without a shirt. “Women are always stealing my shirts.” He made it say like a tragedy that he parted from a beloved of his. 

Logan blinked at the man in front of him, unsure if he was being serious or if he was joking. “I’m sure there are worse things a woman could steal from you...like your wallet.” He shrugged.

Gwen: I doubt he will, I had to leave quite an impression on people. The man has a memory like an elephant.

Gwen: Oh, how adorable. Though I hope you both do get some rest.

Gwen: You have a daughter, what's her name?

Logan: Really? Must be an awesome man.

Logan: Me too! She sleeps through the night occasionally but not often enough. Her name is Hope

A blush appears on her cheeks as she smiles and looks down. “I really do love my job, those kids are precious and it’s a fun job. It’s incredible seeing how they interpret something and learn more about the world around them.” She muses with a laugh. “I do appreciate that, but I’m not really one that likes to do that a lot. I get that it can be tough, but I hope that you are having as nice of a time at your job.”

Logan smiled at her. “What are some of the most interesting things they’ve said?” He inquired, leaning back in seat. “I love my job. I mean sometimes its quite depressing but for the most part there’s nothing better than fixing up a sick pet and sending him on his way with his family.”

He really hoped he wouldn’t have to pay his own brother and hoped just being home to spend time with him would be enough. “I definitely agree,” Noah replied, pulling out his phone from his pocket to place a mobile order for delivery, “Pepperoni alright?” He questioned the other before pressing send. When the hand was placed on his good shoulder he sighed, he knew Logan was right, it would take some time but he would get it back. “Yeah —I..I know. I’m just… it sucks you know? I feel so helpless.”

“Pepperoni is fine.” Logan replied, stepping back to survey the house. “I know. You’ve always been Mr. Do-It-Himself, but your family and friends are here to help. And when you do get that arm back, you’ll be able to kick my ass in football again.” He commented with a laugh, attempting to make the younger Evans smile.
