We listen to music together. Sometimes we are on a stage; sometimes we are among the audience. This is what we do. This is part of what defines us as a society. I am heartbroken at this moment. I can't even begin to wrap my head around the attacks in Paris. Listen: I know that there are more important things than a concert hall. And I understand that people are dying every day in many parts of the world and their lives are as valuable as those that we lost today. But this hits a little too close to home. I'm not going to focus on the fear and the horror. I will focus on the many displays of solidarity, kindness and love I've seen online. Like the fact that innumerable Paris residents offered their homes as safe places and taxi drivers switched off their meters, taking people home for free. I will not be afraid. I will not let anger get the best of me. I will not feel hate. I will not call for revenge. We listen to music together.And we will continue to do so. NO ONE will ever take that away from us.
