Based on a reel I saw on Instagram
please please please please reblog if you’re a writer and have at some point felt like your writing is getting worse. I need to know if I’m the only one who’s struggling with these thoughts
this is a common phenomenon. the better you get, the more you recognize flaws. the good thing is you can strive to get better. but the bad thing is that you see nothing but flaws. you are actually getting better, but your editing/critical brain is getting tuned up and can see more things to improve. someone post the graph, I can't find it
nvm I found it myself:
"art" can mean any creative endeavor and it definitely applies to writing.
I just realised that we were robbed of the og-intros but like with the new ninjas included
You've been kidnapped but the main character of the last TV show you watched is coming to rescue you.
Who’s rescuing you?
When Nya and Jay make their Hydroelectric dragon, there is only one head. It is a creation that responds naturally to their shared and intertwined Elements. They are becoming one, united together through their love and loyalty.
When Nya and Kai make their Fusion dragon, there are two heads, and they can only create it with them help of the Dragon Blade. They are remembering their ties as siblings, while remaining two distinct individuals with both diverging and returning destinies.
I love that Nya gets to experience both instances of an Elemental Dragon formed through two unique powers bonding together, one with her Yang and one with her brother. But I also love that they are different. Nya has a different bond with Jay than she does with Kai, and that's good. I just love how it's displayed visually between Skybound and Hands of Time.
It is interesting that they followed a season about Nya and Jay's relationship with one about Nya and Kai's relationship. It feels almost like a reversal- wouldn't you normally start with familial connections before romantic connections? But I kind of love it. Nya has to choose to trust Jay in Skybound... and it's that choice that enables her to trust and work alongside her brother in Hands of Time, rather than needing to prove herself.
Techtonic plot where Sora and Frak are getting pretty close as friends, the vibes are at MAX goofy, and one day they have to separate for a mission. And their goodbye elongates and devolves into this over the top, Shakespeare-esque bit where they both put on phony accents and elaborately declare that they shall "count the seconds until your return, my love!"
Sora gets a kick out of it, and of course Frak is more than down to play along, but to his surprise, when they reunite Sora keeps the bit going. Right from the get go, she's all "My darling, after you were banished I feared I would never see you again!" Which is surprising to Frak, but yet again he's down to play the part, he knows it's all in good fun, but getting to call Sora increasingly poetic pet names does admittedly give him a bit of catharsis.
But this just keeps going, for like a month, Sora won't quit bringing it up, only growing more elaborate each time they do it. She's leaning into it a weird amount, starts giving all this faux-physical affection to Frak. He starts to feel weird about the whole thing, because he's essentially pretend dating someone he would like to actually date, and it feels weirdly like taking advantage of her. But every time he restrains himself and insists he won't play along, she just ends up teasing him for being chicken, so there's just no winning.
And it's not just on their own, this quickly bleeds out in front of the others too. If Wyldfyre feels like fanning the flames, she'll jump in as one of their disapproving father's, forbidding their love to amp up the scene. Everyone finds it amusing at first, but after a while, the strange persistence of it all starts making those in the know question things. Arin eventually confronts Frak about it like "you cool with this?" and Frak is just staring blankly into the distance like "It's like being stuck in heaven and hell simultaneously, it's so bizarre"
Eventually someone comes back from a long offscreen mission (probably pixal) having missed this whole development, and is thrust straight into the deep end of it all, very confused, as Sora asks Frak to 'marry' her in an elaborate ring pop proposal. And they ask Sora about it after the fact like "what's all that about?" and she just has to sit there and explain the bit, slowly realizing how insane it's all gotten, and how far she's let it go, how much genuine time and energy she has now spent just doing legitimately romantic things for her and Frak. And they just stare back at her like "and the joke is..."
And that's how she finally realizes she has feelings for him.
the reason why nya was so averse to having her parents help in seabound is because she doesn’t know how to be a daughter.
in contrast, kai almost regresses with his parents mostly because he remembers them a little more. being five years old when they were kidnapped, he remembered their faces, mannerisms and interactions more than a little three year old nya did.
nya’s earliest memories involve doing things herself to survive and keeping kai grounded, it’s unlikely she could recall a single memory of her and her parents, especially when growing up survival mode.
so, when kai chooses to call their parents to help nya, she’s annoyed because she genuinely believes she can fix it herself. she’s fixed everything herself; injuries, housework, people’s feelings, her own feelings, so having her mother come and try is a foreign experience and something she doesn’t believe will be effective.
she flinches and ‘rolls her eyes’ at the affection both her and kai receive. she doesn’t remember her parents making her and kai food, or the gentle kisses on the forehead and pats on the shoulder from her father.
when maya stows away on the sub to help nya, she’s frustrated because she still thinks she can do this herself, and she doesn’t need any support, and she tries to brush maya off every chance she gets until she actually needs her. when she’s hurt, or they need to escape, or running away from deadly sharks, nya seeks out her mother.
i think the moment she truly realises she needs her parents — and has needed them so badly throughout her whole life — is when maya comforts her. something so simple, but something nya forgot. she may not need physical help to complete tasks and live her life, but she’s always needed her mom by her side.
after that, she personally seeks out her mom’s love. she hugs maya twice in episode twelve, thanking her for her help and hoping they’ll get to have an adventure like this again. she doesn’t flinch at the bond between kai and ray anymore, and she even somewhat wants her parents to stay “you really have to go?” which is the perfect semi-closure to nya’s arc. now she has her parents back.
anyway, yeah. sorry. this is more of an analysis with my interpretation than a single headcannon but nya & her family mean a lot to me 🥹
.
Jay and Cole both have gaming youtube channels as v-tubers called Shock and Rock respectively (Neither want to be popular just because they are ninja so both din't broadcast their identities). Making gaming content but neither know this about the other even thought they have collabed multiple times before.
Kai is a huge fan of both channels and has shown them both their own videos as he himself is also clueless as to their identities. The rest absolutely know and have just agreed to say nothing.
-Spark anon (Bidding you another lovely day, sorry if I have sent in too many asks recently)
Nah don't worry we love asks!
“Can we just . . .
. . . pretend like it’s the first time?”
When one of my moots that I've labelled 'famous' in my head interacts with me
jay stepping up to lead ONLY when nobody else can and then absolutely smashing it every single time is so devastating because his biggest weakness has literally never been competence!!!!!!!!!!! it’s always been the fact that he doesn’t believe he’s capable!!!!!!!!!!! He is his own biggest limitation and no amount of external validation will fix that
we‘re watching s7 rn because my wifey has never seen it before and as you know libber has basically all of her screentime there. we talked a bit about her and my wifey just said „she‘s basically elle woods, but in blue“
and that literally just solved ALL of my characterization-problems i had with this woman. because yes. libber is basically the elle woods of ninjago. and i love her for it.
Why did they have to call it Bruise. Shock Rock was RIGHT there.
