okay, two things i want to say today. happy valentine’s day to all!! sorry i can’t be on to get layne to celebrate, but i’m actually going to iceland today and i’m going to be there until monday. the place i’m staying at has wifi but i’ll only be online at night, if at all really. if any of you want to plot or do stuff, lemme know so i can give you my discord. otherwise i’ll see you guys whenever i’m going to be back on!!

He didn’t say a word, just tightened the line around his leg. The man’s asking for every two bit criminal in Gotham to hand him his ass. He didn’t understand the death wish every wannabe hero and vigilante had when they came to Gotham. The city demanded nothing but perfection from her protectors (Batman included), so he grabs a hold of him and finally steps from the shadows. “Not a what, a who.” He draws closer, his looming presence bearing down on him.
“Explain. Now.” He demanded, his voice like a gravel cutting through the night. He wanted to know why he thought running around these rooftops was a good idea, and flaunting his abilities everywhere. He might as well send a list to every bad guy in this city, so they know what to expect. No human can launch themselves that far. Not without some help, and you can be sure he’s been watching him for awhile before he decided to reveal himself.
“What are you doing in my city.”
Only now did he realize the naivety he had by thinking he could come to Gotham and do what he was doing without drawing attention. The cops didn’t seem to completely do their jobs in the city so he didn’t worry about them. But what about criminals?? He couldn’t really sneak up on them if he was being so careless. A blatant reason for him not to be a hero or even a vigilante. Then again, he was out there for purely selfish reasons anyway. It wasn’t like he could go roof hopping on the buildings where he lived. They were too high up and the cops actually worked.
The fact that he caught the attention of the Batman instead of a criminal meant that his situation was about to get worse than he could imagine. Tugging his leg and only feeling the line tighten, he grumbled to himself and looked to the Bat as he got even closer. Now he was going to have to explain himself and get chewed out by him for being as reckless as he was. It wasn’t like he was hurting anyone that didn’t deserve it.
“ Roof hopping. And if I see a criminal, I intervene. Only place I can do that without the cops on my ass. ”

david’s not someone who really prides himself on physical strength . physical’s gotta do the heavy-lifting , and why would he focus on heavy-lifting when there were other things to lift ? ( a head’s only got so much time to process what it’s gotta move // and a kid’s gotta move mountains before he can even think about breaking the world ! ) that’s not the case , but he’s also not one to not start worrying once he sees the chance of danger for anyone else . but this guy it’s obvious once he’s back down on the ground that he can handle himself . he’s a lot steadier than david … uh , expected . ❝ oh . ❞ his gaze flickers up to the ropes . come on , you can’t do it , kid ; he’s tougher than you ! give up ! ❝ yeah . it looks fun . it’s just … looked DANGEROUS . is all . ❞
“ OH -- what i just did is pretty dangerous. i’m not someone that should be considered a role model. ” dangerous and idiotic feats such as the one he pulled were merely a daily occurrence for him. but because he didn’t need to worry too much about getting hurt, it made him more reckless ( but that was the FUN of it, wasn’t it?? ). and it seemed the other thought it was fun as well. “ it takes a lot of practice to be as stupid as i am, but i guess you’re not supposed to do that with the ropes anyway. even just seeing how far you can climb up is fun, if you wanna try. ”

Locking the helmet on her bike, she smirked lightly as he agreed on her suggestion. She saved his life - or perhaps she threatened his life, depended of which moment they were talking about. Her eyes lingered on his ears though, && the way he recovered very quickly. Something was up, she wasn’t sure was but definitely something. She would be on to find out for sure. “You’re very welcome. For both.” Now that was a genuine smile that was crossing her lips as they entered the new place. The blonde knew it all as it was one of her favorite spot around her apartment area.
Dinah sat down && removed her jacket before picking up the menu card, her look glancing back at him, stlil with that half-amused && half-intrigued expression. “They make the best french fries of Gotham City, && you should totally trust me on this.” She added, sliding the menu towards him before leaning on her elbows to close the distance between them. Her voice lowered. “So, Mister-i-have-powers && secrets, where do we start here ?” Lower lip licked, she cocked her head on the side. “I’m not gonna expect you to know who I am, but I wouldn’t doubt you heard some things at least… no pun intended here.”
Even though he usually would have turned down the offer to treat him to a meal, this wasn’t any common situation. First, he didn’t have his wallet. And second, if it wasn’t for her in the first place, he would have been able to make a quick escape without her help. So he was fine going along with it and going with her, thankful still for the help she did offer after he had been hurt. He returned the smile that she gave him and sat down at the chair across from her, stuffing the mask he had been holding onto into the pocket of his pants before taking off his gloves. Now that his abilities were powered down, exhaustion was slowly creeping in. He would be surprised if he was able to get up from the chair anytime soon.
Looking back to her as she began talking, he let out a huff of a laugh as she mentioned the fries. “ Might as well trust you. You haven’t given me a reason not to yet. ” If she really wanted to do anything with him, she wouldn’t have taken him to the bar. It was small, but it was enough for him not to be suspicious. When she asked where they should start, he took a deep breath in and sighed, shrugging his shoulders. “ Don’t really know who you are and can’t say I’ve heard anything about you. I tend to be out of the loop on a lot of things -- but if you wanna know anything about my powers or secrets, then fire away. ”
sorry i haven’t been on to do things!! i just ahve a few replies and a starter, but honestly i have been exhausted and things have been busy. i’m going to iceland on valentine’s day and won’t be back for a short while so i’ve been getting ready for that too. but i’m on the IM if anyone wants to do anything and i’ll try to get replies done tomorrow

WATCHING AS SCOTT MOVED ON THE COUCH, layne lifted one of his hands to run through the other’s hair once he was situated. it was a soft touch, gentle, and they both enjoyed it as much as the other did. the question that was posed had him looking up, taking in a deep breath before sighing. “ i can’t say if this shit will ever stop, but if you ever want to leave, i’ll be there with you all the way. ” and he meant it. he’d never leave scott behind. “ what do you wanna watch?? ”

HE COULDN’T HELP brushing scott’s hair back a bit more when he saw that smile, his own broadening in response to it before he pulled his hand away. not to move any further away from the other, however. walking around, he sat down next to the other on the couch and reclined back on it. “ but there’s really not much to talk about with it. teaching’s not a passion... but it’s alright. and it gets the bills paid. ” it was easier for him to teach there than where he started, mostly because the town was not your average one. “ hey -- i like having you in my space. but it’s up to you if you wanna stay. ”

“ i try not to stay upside down for TOO LONG and let the blood rush to my head. ” along his running trail, there were different pieces of equipment open to the public that he would make use of just for fun. one was a set of climbing ropes he would go up, twist his legs in, and then hang from for a bit. usually it didn’t catch too much attention, so he could only grin to the guy that called up to him about the harm of staying up there too long. unraveling himself, layne lowered himself just a bit from the rope before letting go and landing from a good six feet up in the air. a little help from his abilities made the land much easier on his knees. “ it’s pretty fun. ”

there it was. the comfort and warmth he had been seeking with loic. as the arm wrapped around his shoulders, layne leaned into the touch and closed his eyes at the kiss, only to open them and looked to the man before leaning up to kiss his cheek. “ sure -- you feel lke watching anything specific?? ”

“ I THINK YOU’RE SPENDING more time here than you are back home. ” not that he was complaining. if anything, he was glad to have scott around and not have to worry about melissa coming home or walking in. it was nice for him to have a job again, even though he had enjoyed roaming free and being a teacher was as hard as he remembered. it was nice to feel like he belonged somewhere, and for someone to want him to belong. walking over to scott as the other sat on the couch, he ran his fingers through the other’s hair and smiled down to him. “ you thinking about sleeping over again?? ”

even though he had asked loic if he needed help putting the dishes away, he had been shooed off and went to sit on the couch. he looked towards loic’s direction as the man asked if he wanted anything to drink, shaking his head. “ nah -- just want you sitting with me, the two of us wrapped in a blanket. ”
