Lost their phones, no signal, hiding from someone and they shut off their phone to keep it from making noise. Tons of reasons. Being kidnapped isn’t even in the top 3. So please, try to calm down. I know you’re worried, but give them a bit more. If I don’t hear anything in the next few hours, I’ll take action.

That’s of course assuming they were kidnapped. There are other reasons why they may be out of touch with their phones.

What do you know exactly? [raises his eyebrows, waiting for her to admit and answer him] Yeah. Are you saying they were taken by the killer? Do you have any possible leads as to why they would be taken? Or why they would even lie about it? If you got taken, wouldn’t you just say so?  No. They wouldn’t have been taken. Vivian would know better. And I’m sure she’d take care of Dr. Grayson.

Yes. I’m sure.

Not much. [clearly lies, clears throat] Not much of the new stuff, anyway. [frowns] I'm sorry, but if I were the kidnapper, the first thing I'd do would be to take their phones - and your partner's gun - so there wouldn't be a way to tell others that they've been kidnapped.

Actually, the answer I was looking for is something along the lines of ‘Do you have any idea what he might have found?’ I assume that it was something important since he called Detective Chan and since you two were involved romantically, it’s possible that he may have told you. 

[is taken aback by the question and falls silent for a moment before answering.] Just a concerned partner.

I don't know what he found, and I have a terrible feeling that if I did, I'd be missing, too. I'd have to admit that I do know a lot... probably more than I should. [pause] Did you hear about the two girls missing? They disappeared a week or so back, to show up like nothing had happened a couple of days later. One of them said that she'd gone camping, but I'm nto so sure. Do you think they've taken Hutch and Detective Chan?

[raises his eyebrow and looks at her curiously] The reception may not be bad around here, but it might be horrible wherever they are. Why are you so keen on talking with Mr. Grayson? [thinks on the possibility of it having something to do with the lead that Vivian got] What is your relationship with Mister Grayson, Miss Sawyer?

That is an excellent question.

Um.. It's kinda hard to explain. But I think the answer you're looking for - as a detective - is yes, we are.. 'romantically involved', I guess it's called. [hesitates but can't hold the question back] ...What about you and Detective Chan? You just a worried partner, or?

He can’t be missing. He’s with Vivian, and it’s only been eleven a few hours. It’s possible they went somewhere. Do you know where they could have gone?

You tell me; I wasn't investigating the case. Look, reception's not that bad around here. I would've gotten some response to my calls if everything was.. alright.

Heh, yeah. This entire thing is… stressful. But, you know what? I’m sure it’s nothing. I’m sure it’s only that tiny moment before you know you’re safe; that tiny moment of doubt. I’m sure, that everything is going to be okay. Do you want to get your mind off of things, though? ‘Cause I could help. Contrary to popular belief, there’s a lot to do on this island.

I guess you're right. I mean, it sounds like you could be absolutely right... And thank you for the offer, Ethan, but.. I think I'll lay low, stay close to my rabbit hole, be boring. I don't like taking chances when I feel like this. Another time, maybe.

You can try. [shakes head] Honestly? I don't know, I just have a feeling that something's happened, and it's really hard to shake off. But it's a constant concern here, I guess, so it shouldn't be much of a problem. Not, not really.
