April inspiration.
Hi Cary, How is married life treating you? Any short and beautifully poetic advice for a 24-year-old who is trying (but not trying too hard) to find her person?
Concentrate fully on making your life as rich and meaningful as it can be right now, and don’t waste time on future fairy tales. The right person will appear when you are both receptive and ready. And if takes a little while, that’s okay. You’ll probably be so busy and happy that you won’t even notice the time pass.
What perfume do you use on a daily basis? thank you
Have been wearing L’Eau du Trente-Quatre by Diptyque but might switch to Creed’s Millesime Imperial for the summer. And I save Rush by Gucci for girls’ nights out!

She was referring to Ramona, but I take it to heart.
Me: Just think, in 72 hours we'll be lounging poolside.
Billie: Sounds like someone didn't read the weather report.
Me: In 72 hours, we'll watching TV in a bigger living room.
Hi Cary - hope STL is treating you well! I'm interviewing at a fashion startup next month and hopelessly lost as to what to wear (I currently work in DC, the land of skirt suits and pantyhose). I'm a Barbour/LL Bean loving waspy little thing by day and a 90s minimalist by night, and would like my personal style to somehow come across in this interview. Any tips?
Lady, you've got this. Just tweak your 90s minimalist style for daytime with a black blazer, sleek hair pulled back in a low chignon and sheer red lip. (My favorite is Cranberry Veil by FACE Stockholm.) Pearl earrings and fresh, bare skin will nod to your preppy roots without screaming “Dorsia at eight!” Best of luck!

Welcome to it the prettiest month on the calendar.
Why are these not yet in my jewelry box?
Ideas for an awards dinner dress for someone with an aversion to flaunting their arms??
Go for long sleeves and a short hemline in a celebratory hue. Here are a few of my favorites from Saks Fifth Avenue:

Let me start by saying that I am engaged to the most wonderful man. He is my rock, my best friend, and he makes me happy. Recently, an old love reached out to me--out of the blue. He was the first person I ever really, wholly loved. And, if soul mates exist, he is mine. He confessed that he hasn't loved anyone since we ended things (our timing was never right). In truth, a part of me will always care for him. But I have grown up so much since then. What is your advice? Where do I go from here?
My mom recently gave me some great advice: Marriage is a choice you make between one person and everyone else. That doesn't mean there aren't other people out there--exes, strangers, friends--but when you say your vows, you will be choosing your one. Miss the others, wonder about them, wish them well, but love and honor the one you choose. If you love your fiance and want to spend the rest of your life with him, then it’s time to tell the ex goodbye and thanks for the memories. But if this ex is truly your soul mate, then you know what to do.

Cary, your skin is fab. Any suggestions/tips/secrets? Also, major congrats on all your new developments! xo
Thank you! My skin is a work in progress, thanks to an SPF-free adolescence. These days, I take care of the ol’ epidermis with twice-monthly facials (biggest indulgence ever but so worth it), daily turns with the Clarisonic, nightly application of this stuff, and tons of water. Plus sunscreen.

Mad about Nike’s new #betterforit campaign--and especially the above commercial. As much as I love to run and om and sweat and work hard...I hate that feeling of dread and uncertainty that comes with the start of a class or the first step into a weight room. When it’s over, on the other hand, I never feel better.

“The rise of the stylist is locked up with a number of questions regarding creative collaboration, invention and homogenisation [sic]; Paris brought them all to the surface. You cannot turn straw into gold, but that’s exactly what they kept trying to do...Certainly stylists are much more than mere muses or even editors of a designer’s work. They have become co-designers themselves, lending their hand and eye to fabric choices, fit and so on. Of course, a creator needs to dialogue with someone. But the over-stylised shows we saw in Paris are not good for fashion.” - Angelo Flaccavento for Business of Fashion
