Donald and the team went to Tapir Valley today to do some maintenance and reforestation today. It was the second time in a month that Donald has almost stepped on a venomous snake! Pip was recently invited to be the MC and 'Pronouncer' at the English Festival at the local elementary school here in Bijagua, Costa Rica. We just love getting involved in community events and this English festival was so inspiring! Over 250 students attended and there was a very competitive Spelling Bee competition. We were so impressed by the passion of the teachers and the skills of the students. The future here in rural Costa Rica looks bright! This is the waterfall of Rio Celeste from the air, you can see the viewing area visitors hike down to on the bottom right. You can imagine our surprise when we went through our footage to find out there's a second waterfall on top! There's no path there, you can't see it from the trail and only some of the locals of Bijagua know about it... This fabulous Rhinoceros bettle was hanging out in our garden eating some plantains. They are truly incredibIe and their body looks like it's covered in armour! They have hard shells to protect their wings as they like to burrow under the ground to eat decomposing wood on the forest floor. That moment when your heart swells with happiness! We love guests who like to share their talents and passions with others. We were lucky enough to have a junior gymnast champion, a ballet teacher, a sporty Aussies family and two marathon runners stay with us. So what did we do? We ran a master gym, ballet and fitness class in the village for local kids! It was just wonderful. They had the knack of making you feel instantly at home and went the extra mile to get to know you and to provide whatever generosity they could to welcome you to their casitas.
