I did not know the production behind the album was primarily black artists. It is a genuine mistake on my part and I see know why people were upset by my tweet.
Thank you for providing this information. I was really only making superficial commentary on an album I did not look into beyond listening to it on Spotify a couple of times. I did not know that “noise music,” was coded language. Still, my own lack of knowledge is not an excuse for my flippant takes.
I understand why people were taken aback and offended by my comments. My tweet emerged from a place of my own ignorance. I apologize for making a derogatory take on a piece of work that has a lot more meaning and depth to the black community than it does to me. It is not fair or right of me to write-off work I do not understand.
I’m sorry the burden of educating me fell on your shoulders. When these aggressions arise, I know BIPOC community members are often tasked with pointing out the wrong doing and that can come with its own layer of stress and relived trauma. I’m sorry you were tasked with correcting my bad take. Instead of making that post, I should’ve been more thorough in trying to analyze the responses I was seeing and finding my own answers. I was being reactionary instead of stopping to untangle why folks were upset by my words. I will take the tweet down.
