everyone please watch this it made me CRY
Anyone else crying because this is the type of album that Taylor has always dreamt of writing an album free of pressures and standards and scheduling an album written because one day she just started writing and didnât stop
Iâm having a break down over The Last Great American Dynasty!!! Taylor tells the story of Rebekah Harkness and all the trouble she caused in Watch Hill Rhode Island with her insane parties, feuds with neighbors and her general debauchery that was the talk of the town. And then she died and Holiday House sat quietly for 50 years, âfree of women with madness, their men and bad habitsâ AND THEN Taylor has the audacity to say âAnd then it was bought by me // I had a marvelous time ruining everythingâ because Taylor was know for her crazy parties there and her âmen and bad habitsâ and we know there were tabloids publishing stories of her fighting with people in town. I REALLY underestimated this song upon first listen. Holy SHIT.
Taylorâs comments/answers during YouTube Q&A with fans before the premiere of âCardiganâ music video (July 23rd/24th 2020)
folklore feels like you just found an old collection of letters tied up with ribbon, in a box in someoneâs attic and you wipe off the dust and sit down right there to carefully flip through them and you get a glimpse into the world of whoever wrote them
honestly this is when it pays to be a taylor stan well-versed in her entire discography, including and especially her early work and unreleased songs. because the general public knows her for her confessional, straightforward songwriting. theyâre used to taking her lyrics at face value. hence the many MANY texts iâve received in the last hour asking me if taylor âbroke up with her boyfriendâ or if sheâs ok.Â
but if you listen to early unreleased songs and selections of her work throughout the years, sheâs proven sheâs great at putting fictional storylines or other peopleâs stories to song. the emotions are real â theyâre hers. but the details of the events are not ripped from the pages of her diary this time.Â
letting go of this insistence that every detail of every song is a clue to her personal life really frees us up to analyze these songs and find the universal humanity in them instead of just celebrity gossip fodder.Â
Obsessed with this post cuz SO TRUE
it feels like one of those nights we wonât be sleeping
folklore will have 16 songs on the standard edition, but the physical deluxe editions will include a bonus track called âthe lakes.â Because this is my 8th studio album, I made 8 deluxe CD editions and 8 deluxe vinyl editions that are available for one week đ Each deluxe edition has unique covers, photos, and artwork. Available exclusively at https://store.taylorswift.comÂ
What is happeningggg
hey you can watch all of those performances on youtube here:
love story, fearless, beautiful eyes, untouchable, teardrops on my guitar, picture to burn, shouldâve said no
the appreciation i have for lana wilson fundamentally understanding that cameras as a concept have been destructive in taylorâs life and intrinsically getting that this is a hard story, and connecting those things to the fact that she is a woman with a camera collecting this story and in turn working hard to not do more harm is....vast
so call it what you want, yeah, call it what you want to
