Ask yourself these 3 questions to hold yourself accountable to your 2016 resolutions!
Also, I really liked making this video. And I’m thinking of doing more stuff in the vein of motivation/organization/getting my life in order. Yeah?
My original 2016 goals video.
Here are five places I've pulled short story ideas from in the past!
What about you all--where do you find inspiration?
Finally, we've reached Hogwarts and the sorting ceremony!
In which I make the best version of this beloved toast.
I actually remembered to take more video this month! And for good reason--I went to Disneyland and on a cruise. Though I guess that sets the bar kind of high for next month...
I run out of video ideas sometimes.
That’s why @buzzfeed exists, right?
Some thoughts on body image, body positivity, and being told you're skinny when you're not!
This whole video came about based on a conversation I had about a year ago now--just a quick exchange in a longer conversation, but one that has clearly stuck with me since then.
I was nervous about making this video, and then nervous again to publish it (I recorded this about a month ago), which is kind of insane. What do I have to be scared of? But we all know what the internet is like for women and so yeah. These kinds of topics are important to me even though I’m scared to talk about them with strangers. But it’s worth it if someone else can connect with these thoughts and benefit from hearing about my experience!
Dravid joined me to discuss inequality in the wizarding world and whether or not Dudley can wag his piggy tail!
We filmed two more chapters together(!), so stay tuned for the next upload.
I won’t be able to post a new video tomorrow because vacation. But it’s okay because I did make a video last week about something really great. And that’s majoring in English/Creative Writing.
Now there’s this ugly rumor that English majors don’t do any work and can’t find jobs. But that’s mostly untrue! The great thing about spending four years learning to write the perfect paper is that you can convince people of pretty much anything.
So that cover letter is basically a paper with the thesis statement, “Hire me please, you won’t regret it.”
Man, these things would be a whole lot more exciting if I were not petrified of vlogging in public. As it is I’ll start filming and then someone will walk by and I’ll be like
Anyhow. February!
I did a lot, even though it’s the shortest month:
First and foremost: I take no responsibility for the abysmal lighting and sound in this video.
You know how after a while of people telling you, “Listen, you HAVE TO HAVE TO watch this movie right now, I know you’ll love it, it’s the best thing since avocado toast,” you kind of don’t want to watch it ever? Like you’re pretty adamant that, in fact, you will not like it, and that you can’t spare two hours of your life to even try this thing that’s such a hit?
That’s the point I’m at with many of these movies.
Let me know if you’ve seen any of these and they’re actually worth it--and then maybe just maybe I’ll give them a shot.
When I first started making YouTube videos a little over a year ago, I was recording them with the webcam on my macbook air.
Yes, really.
It occurs to me after editing this particular video that this is maybe not the best showcase for all I’ve learned about making videos in the past year. The lighting sucks (but hey, that’s typical for me!). I look half asleep and my hair is all wet. I’m not particularly articulate or profound.
But I don’t know if any amount of time will necessarily help me to make polished videos. I’m not much of a perfectionist. I’m more of a I’m-just-going-to do-this-thing-and-keep-doing-it-long-enough-that-it’s-kind-of-acceptable kind of person.Â
Is that enough on YouTube?
Some of my favorite productivity & organization apps! Inspired by this video from Rosianna and Sanne.
I love to-to lists and personal finance and other boring stuff that. Love it!Â
I’ve linked the sites I mentioned below, but there were also a couple more that didn’t make the cut:
Feedly
You let me keep tabs on all of my favorite blog and news sites, without the finger-exhausting task of clicking on each of those blogs in a bookmarks folder on my browser. You gather them in one place and make them into a nice, long list--with pictures!
Evernote
You help me add items to my shopping list from any device, and you hold an entire notebook’s worth of my jumbled ideas for future blogs. Unfortunately you’re a little scary and I still don’t quite understand the best use case for you. But you’re really great at making all of my little notes and wonderings searchable!
Wunderlist
How I loved thee, once. You helped me keep my school assignments and personal life obligations in order. But then you were too buggy. I bet you’ve fixed those issues now but i’ve moved on to ToDoist and it’s too late. I hope you’ll understand.
Sites I mentioned in the video:
Inbox. Todoist. Splitwise. Mint.
Aaaaannd we’re back!
My face looks awfully pink and splotchy here. I think this still is from the part where I yell at Harry for not catching a single damn letter when he’s standing on that table in the Dursleys’ living room. I’m just ruddy with excitement.
