Words cannot express how much I loved this whole sequence in this chapter to be honest.
The viewer was always given the fact that Akaashi knew Bokuto by heart. He took the time to understand him, he knew his weaknesses, found wonder in his strengths. So then what happens if the tables turn and Bokuto is now the one pointing out Akaashi's weakness?
The rest of Fukurodani witnessed Akaashi's mistakes but it was Bokuto who caught unto what's really happening within, going as far as telling him to take a quick rest from the match. Then when you think his depth of care and for the setter is over he goes out of his way to motivate Akaashi by giving a few words before he sits down by the bench.
Bokuto is indeed perceptive and he likely knew Akaashi was one to overthink things which is why he gave Akaashi food for thought before Akaashi settled down. It's the way that Bokuto knew this was the best way to approach Akaashi the same way Akaashi knew how to handle Bokuto's emo modes really shows the level of understanding the two of them have for each other. It was never a one sided ideal like how we have been shown Akaashi motivating Bokuto from the past chapters, Bokuto motivates him just as much. Enough for him to learn and grow on his own the same way Bokuto does by the timeskip.
Lastly is Bokuto acknowledging that Akaashi isn't like him. Bokuto trusts in Akaashi. He trusts--no--he KNOWS Akaashi is going to come back. He dosen't worry because there's already this level of trust that he holds for Akaashi that's so firm he dosen't shake one bit when the setter is benched. Bokuto and Akaashi are indeed not like the other. Akaashi isn't as energetic as Bokuto and Bokuto isn't as calm and calculated as Akaashi is. Yet, there's something so earnest and true about the way they know each other so well. About the bond they formed between each other .The trust, the understanding, the respect. The two of them have learned to conquer every struggle they faced because of those mutual thoughts and ideas they gave each other. They inspired each other that much to the point that they learned to better themselves as people.
Bokuaka, without a doubt, really are the protagonists of the world. For with every obstacle, they conquered it together.
