Day 5 of 100

I did my videos I just forgot to post one of them!

Here practicing 3rd movement of Mendelssohn for the lesson in the afternoon.

Day 4 of 100

I have to remind myself to record something during the morning and not when I am exhausted!

But anyway.. this morning I wasn’t as productive as I was planning to be.. I woke up early but then I procrastinated till 11, then I started practicing but not in a very intensive way because last night I slept in some weird position and my right arm was hurting. Then at 3pm I left the house. In conservatory I practiced another hour and then I had The lesson with my Teaher for almost 2 hours..

We worked on Mendelssohn 1st and 2nd movement.

So here again the beginning of first movement of Mendelssohn concerto, trying the new bowings and fingering.

Day 3 of 100

Ok, I have to admit that I’m already feeling how difficult it will be to continue this project for 100 days (97 now)..

Today it was my “back to school” day! Woke up quite early for my standards, went to the conservatory, practiced and then had 1 and a half hour of lesson (I was supposed to have just 45 minutes).. I really felt like I was back in high school!! 5 hours of “studying” without any significant break!

So when I came back home I really needed to take a significant nap ;-)

Later this afternoon I started reading this new quartet that we have to perform in a masterclass for the composer himself and in few concerts.. my brain wanted to explode, a lot of counting, flageolets, octvaves (in a quartet??!!! Really??!!!) and then I realized I didn’t record anything so I tried to play something in front of the camera, but my arms were sooo tired.

This is the beginning of 1st movement Mendelssohn violin concerto that I played today at the lesson and that I will play for my Teacher tomorrow.

Still trying to understand how to find time for practicing my English and my Russian..

Day 2 of 100

This morning I decided that I would have spent 1 hour working on 3rd movement of Mendelssohn violin concerto.. I ended up practicing it for more than 2 hours! So many things to control and how difficult to succeed on the intent!

Here a bit of the begging..

Tomorrow I have the first lesson of the trimester with the concertmaster of La Fenice theater. After more than 2 months without having any lesson (this summer I just had quartet masterclass) I feel like I am going to start school again!

And from Tuesday till Friday I’ll have lesson with my Teacher everyday, and then another quartet practice session (plus masterclass, plus concert) on the way.

Day 1 of 100, 2nd part

After practicing slowly I would also try to play the same material fast (if it is supposed to), even if I know the work is not done yet. This help me to see which bad habits are still there and also for gaining a bit of relaxation and independence of the left hand.

By the way I realized that in exactly 100 days it will be 2019! This gives me even more motivation to pursue my project!

Day 1 of 100

So I finally started this journey too!

As a child everything for me used to come very easily and quickly, that’s why I never truly worked on technique separately from the pieces I was learning and never had a finger “work out” routine.. guys I started doing scales just few years ago (my bad) and still can’t manage to work on them everyday!

This is me starting from the basics once again, today I worked a bit on G major 4 octaves scale. (Next video is the same scale played faster just for creating more freedom and independence between the fingers)

My aim for these next 100 days is to build a more solid knowledge of the fingerboard.

Still, this blog won’t be just about the 100 days of Practice.. but also about Productivity! I decided that I will do the TOEFL examination and I am also starting to learn Russian (because of my quartet colleagues and teachers).
