I think Jack loves Daniel because he's blown away by his resiliency, his intelligence, his wit, his beauty. It's hard for him to admit but he thinks Daniel hung the moon, basically.

I think Daniel loves Jack yes in part because of qualities he sees in Jack like kindness, bravery, competence, etc., but at the end of the day I think Daniel loves Jack because Jack loves Daniel, and at his core, underneath all the other stuff, all Daniel wants is to be loved. 🥲
