another thing that i really like about Stroud's writing and especially his writing of L&Co characters is that all of them have polarising traits. not just with each other, but with themselves.

Holly is collected by chaotic

Kipps is commanding but in need of guidance or a figure/cause to follow

BOOK SPOILERS but an underrated lockwood and co moment is when barnes says he has important information and so the kids pull up in front of an ugly house and start speculating on what horrors could possibly have occurred there. and they go on for a while about how a house like that has to be haunted by something equally terrible. and then they go inside and it's barnes's house. cannot stress enough that he was present for the entire conversation
