right now the trump administration is attacking the public lands in the Southwestern US. most recently (July 2026), in Utah the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments have been cut by over 90% to allow for mining. these lands are sacred to multiple Native nations in the area and contain irreplaceable archeological sites. additionally, the commission of Native representatives who aided in management of these lands has been dissolved leaving Native people without a voice in caring for the remaining land. here in New Mexico, the 10 mile buffer zone surrounding Chaco Canyon preventing oil and gas drilling is under attack. Chaco Canyon contains incredibly old and incredibly fragile archeological sites sacred to Pueblo people. these sites are threatened by mining and drilling. (read more here)

The attack on the Chaco buffer zone is currently in a public comment period open until July 29. PLEASE leave a public comment to save these irreplaceable places.

Wildfires in northern Ontario force First Nations to flee

Several wildfires are forcing members of a number of First Nations to flee their homes in northern Ontario.

Four First Nations in northern Ontario are under a mandatory evacuation notice according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and one community, Namaygoosisagagun was being engulfed as residents fled.

“I had time to run home and pack a bag and get to the beach where the boats were waiting,” said a member of Namaygoosisagagun First Nation (Collins). “We literally had minutes to get on the boats and flee before it took our town.

Members of Whitesand First Nation, Lac des Mill Lacs First Nation and Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation have also been ordered to flee ahead of wildfires in the area.

A number of fires around several others are being watched including Rainy River District, Gull Bay First Nation, Pickle Lake, Ignace and Upsala.

“The OPP reminds the public that wildfires are dynamic and unpredictable,” said a statement by the police service on social media. “Fire behaviour, including the size and direction of a wildfire, can change rapidly due to weather conditions and other factors.”

Several social media posts show massive grey and black plumes of smoke and fire from various fires.

Environment Canada has much of northern Ontario under a severe heat warning, with forecasters predicting highs of 36 C and the humidex making it feel as hot as 40 C.

The Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN), which advocates on behalf of 49 First Nations in northern Ontario, says that members should be prepared for anything.

And then when everyone else is like "can you be responsible for your fucking dog? Can you spend time with it? Walk it? train it?" It's not ONLY cishet men who do this, but every cishet man I have ever known has done this... The weird social conflation with dogs = masculine and cats = feminine absolutely has something to do with this. Especially bc I've noticed this get so much worse in the last 6 years along with everyone's driving skills... The pandemic + surge in fascism are connected just like the 1918 influenza and fascism were, and I can't tell you how but dogs are a part of this also, as well. The dog has something to do with the quintessential manly man hunter provider figure. Having a tradwife and 2.5-6 kids isn't enough anymore, he also needs a dog that he can ignore along with the rest of his family

And tbf usually, like, the queer ppl I know who have dogs actually do train them, but the cishet normie dog owners will literally let them run loose in town "because she's her own person, she likes to!" And I can't help but also see a parallel there between how socially privileged people never have to THINK about what they do or say, and marginalized people have to think twice as hard about everything we do bc of how we are perceived.

The thing is, you aren't alone here on this bitch of an earth. like, you aren't the only one using the planet. so if you don't do your work other people who are also using the planet end up having to do it for you. If you don't wash your dishes your housemates have to. If you don't pick up your garbage someone else has to. If you don't pay attention to your kid, or even your dog, everyone else fucking has to!!! Letting the dog outside to bark ALL DAY EVERY DAY isn't FINE just bc it's outside and outside is where dogs bark. All you just did was outsource that noise to your neighbors. Fucking thanks.

SAN FRANCISCO - multiple individuals in attendance are missing and can’t be contacted.

the police met the marchers in the transgender district (tenderloin) at the end of it and forcibly tried to disperse the permitted, yearly march. when met with resistance, more than 100+ police officers arrived and started forcefully arresting people

Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.

have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
