I think it’s immature and petty and stupid for Plec to hate characters and storylines she personally didn’t create.

she could support the people who write episodes for her show, and recognize that they sometimes get it right (like with Bonkai last season)

but nope. Plague’s all like “I didn’t create it so therefore it’s crap”

Bonkai would’ve made the show so much better. As it is, I’m seriously considering not watching next season, even for the remaining characters I like

this is one of the episodes I think back to when people start yapping “kai’s so evil. kai wants to kill bonnie and everyone. kai kai kaiiii” no. no bitch, that is not correct.

Kai wanted out of that prison world - his eternal hell - no matter what it took. he had 18 years to stew over it and imagine the ways of escaping, somewhere along the way he put together that the Bennett witches were a part of the reason he got trapped there, and most likely a way out.

*Enter Bonnie Bennett and flash forward to this episode*

by this point Kai has tried to reason with both her and Damon about going home together, doing this together, has already stated that he can kill them both and do this on his own if necessary. for a guy who’s soul purpose the last two decades is getting the hell out of there, he’s going out of his way not only to bring them along, but trying in his own sociopathic tendencies to win them both over and as we all know laying the sexual on thick on bonnie. (it worked)

the times we’ve seen his anger flare up or start stabbing people is when he a. got left behind b. has already been stabbed/killed or c. it was his only option. he’s on the defensive 85% of the time in and out of the prison world.

how do people not see this? no other fandoms, I am not blinded by my love for bonkai to see the storyline and logic behind this character and his actions. yes I can relate to and feel empathy for a sociopath - you wish you could be so special. (by the way this all started as a quick thought bubble and got way out of hand)

I’ve been saying this since forever. But Kai did try to work with getting out with Bonnie several times. She killed him and said “which means we dont need him.” The moment he became useless to her she killed him. Yet when she sent her magic away, he didnt kill her. He still tried to work with her even though she was technically useless to him at that point. Chris Wood even tweeted this saying “He (Kai) wouldve gladly left with Bonnie.”

I think anybody who doesn’t see this (or the episode later, when he almost dies saving her life) is literally just making up a narrative that fits their motivation. It’s just like the accusation that Kai drove Bonnie to suicide by leaving her alone and isolated - and completely forgetting that this was Bonnie’s idea first - her idea that they divide the world into two and leave completely separate existences. Somewhere along the line it became something that Kai did to Bonnie… not something that she brought upon herself when she: first, made the decision that her freedom was not worth his escape and secondly, asked him to leave her be.

I have always - and will always maintain - that Bonnie’s anger at Kai’s abandonment ( “the worst part was when he left me alone and I wish I could show you how that felt like” ) was projected anger. It was anger that she really felt at her friends’s - at Damon, at Elena, at every body that she had helped time and time in the past and had abandoned her at her hour of need. It’s when she’s disappointed by Delena that we see Bonnie break down, not when she first realises that Kai has left her stranded in Portland. She is saying ‘he’ but what she probably subconsciously meant at that moment was ‘you’:

I don’t know if the show ever intended to explore this - before the last part of tvd6 was botched for non-story reasons. Or if it was always going to be a ‘read between the lines’ interpretation. But I still stand that when Bonnie is weeping at being abandoned, she’s not weeping that Kai the sociopath, who’d been trying to break out of prison for 20 years abandoned her - she’s weeping that the friends she’d been laying her life down for over and over and over again - could not save her the one time she needed them to.

Bonnie to Damon: “the worst part was when you left me alone and I wish I could show you how that felt like but I can’t.”

Yes to all of this!! It was about being left alone that hurt bonnie the most but it was just easier for bonnie to direct her pain Kai.

I would have paid to see Kai & Damon (who were already at odds with one another) both fight for the affections of Bonnie. For a second I really thought the show was going to take us there but they disappointed as usual. You mean to tell me all the time spent in the prison world, Damon (a full blooded man) didn't make a pass at Bonnie (in canon)?? Who was writing these episodes?! Bc they dropped the ball bigtime. It was a bit unrealistic that he'd spend all his time whining about his man-pain & Elena, considering he always cheated on her any chance he got. Lol.

Me too! This is the type of content we deserved! The prison world arc was one of the best and had amazing potential. They totally should've taken it there (but leave it up to Plague to turn pure gold into an afterthought).

The chemistry between these three was wild, and it would've been the perfect focus shift opportunity. This arc needed to last the entire season, been the main storyline; and, of course, written very differently.

Yeah, with the sexual tension between Damon and Bonnie, there's no way it didn't go there... More of Plague BS, just teasing an idea to keep Bamon fans watching. Sacrificing the amazing potential to serve her self-inserts, obsessions, and underwhelming repetitive dynamics (cough, Delena).

Good thing we have fanfiction! =)

Can you explain why Stefan and Caroline aren't fit as a couple?

I have a few posts on this so there’s going to be a lot of repetition but here is what I think.

I know what Caroline and Stefan are supposed to be. They are supposed to be the realistic couple, the mature couple, they are supposed to be two people who don’t need each other but who choose each other because they want to be together. But they never chose each other. Stefan and Caroline never acted like a couple when they were a couple because they kept one another out of each other’s lives, Caroline was constantly insecure about how Stefan truly felt about her, about whether or not he would leave once he learned she was pregnant and Stefan just doesn’t seem to know Caroline at all, he isn’t Stefan with her because he had no part in her pregnancy, he deluded himself into thinking that she wouldn’t want to be a part of the twins lives to the point that Damon and Klaus had to go, “Really, Stefan? It’s Caroline.” The one man who really seemed to know who Caroline was doesn’t know her at all. And instead of Caroline telling him how she felt about the pregnancy situation and instead of Stefan telling her his fears about the situation, they both just smiled and played along with the rouse that everything was OK in the name of politeness, which actually makes them inherently immature because they can’t be honest with each other. Also, when do we really see them act as a couple? I’ve said this so many times but details go a long way and can really sell people on a ship. With Stelena, there were details beyond kissing/sex that made us realize they were a couple:

But we don’t get that with Steroline. When he gets her the fries? The way the show packaged that, a friend could do that. Have Stefan and Caroline sleeping in the same bed and Caroline go “Stefan…” “Curly or straight?” “Curly. No. Straight. No. Curly…” and Stefan starts getting dressed and nods his head and goes, “So both.” “I love you.” *kiss* when Stefan is having his Phoenix Stone flashback, he’s on the couch and Caroline is upstairs. They don’t hold hands, they don’t hug, they were barely in the same room together much less with each other. Even when Stefan calls Caroline because Damon is in the phoenix stone that felt like Stefan called his best friend and not his girlfriend. And I don’t accept the excuse that they didn’t have time because neither did Stefan and Elena, it was always something, it was Damon or the tomb vampires or Katherine or Damon again or werewolves or Klaus or The Originals or Damon one more time whatever, and they still had moments in between those circumstances, throughout those circumstances to just hug, to just kiss, to just check in, to just smile. Even Forwood, which was all about timing and it’s a relationship that I have said repeatedly devolved into goodbyes and sex but I could at least understand why Caroline kept holding on to him because they had moments as a couple like prom night or the 20s dance or them just holding each other in her bed or on his couch, he broke every bone in his body for her, so that when he kept leaving and all they had was sex it was like but one day we’ll get more of those moments, one day we’ll be able to be together truly. With Steroline I don’t get that. I don’t understand what they’re holding onto. So when Stefan is writing letter after letter and Caroline is driving to fake book clubs to cry over him leaving, I’m just sitting here like why, though? What is there between you two, really?

Plus I just find them severely lacking in romantic chemistry. Every time they have a “sexy” or “romantic” scene after 7x04, it just reminds me of how great they were as friends.
