2016 Pro Sex discourse is really laughable coming at it from the perspective of someone whoâs pushing around a living, breathing reminder of my sexuality in a stroller (i.e. my child) and seeing how pro sex people respond to him. When I tell someone my age that I have a child, they look at me like I just admitted to having an STD, like I should be embarrassed to admit that I had sex with a Consequence. They donât want to think about that, it ruins the illusion. Sex positivity is soâŚnot even actual sex. Itâs shaved vulvas and pornified performances and sheepish shrugs in Plan B commercials because they canât even handle the word Pregnant in association with their Fun, make-believe sex. Despite having actually had my sexuality controlled, despite being cut off financially from my parents as a pregnant 18-year-old as punishment for having sex and having a real reason to want my sexuality liberated, stories like mine arenât even welcome in pro sex narratives. Itâs ridiculous
I remember in a Sex & Pop Culture class I took a few years ago, our teacher talked about how there was an episode of I Love Lucy where she was pregnant but had to tell her husband in a way that didnât use the word âpregnantâ because it was seen as too inappropriate for TV. Everyone in my class giggled like that was the most ridiculous thing, completely blind to the irony. Pro sex millenials are every bit as uncomfortable with pregnancy as conservatives in the 50s
