I feel Cecil is really sensitive even if he tries to hide it, the fact that he gets defensive at any type of comment he doesn't like it's giving him away
And the fact that he is impulsive too, even if he tries not to, like the first time we meet him
He is supposed to be the one who takes the cold choices and still he is deeply affected by anything he doesn't like.
In the scene when he and Donald argued
The only assumption of Donald thinking Cecil was the one who needed his memory erased for his own benefit is enough to hurt him and therefore make him react with anger
And if you check him in the 3rd season when we see his backstory, he wasn't like that, he just goes to the point, not unnecessary cursing, not getting easily angry or defensive, he just does his own thing
Look at him, so chill after losing his only weapon
And then he even takes his time to smile mid fight, pretty nonchalant
But after the incident, he looks so guilty and angry
He decides to keep that scar in his face not like a "reminder" like he tries to make it appear, but like a punishment to look at everyday
And that's when we start to notice that indeed what happened to him changed the way he reacts to his surroundings
Then when he became the Director of the GDA he faces a strong rejection from his team (except from Donald)
And when he checks the reports
He says everyone thinks he is fucked up just because he was in prison
Wich is true, but mind you, those words about himself came out of his mouth
And then when Donald ask what happens if Nolan is hostile
Cecil says something meaning that it would be okay if he gets killed because then they will get the Director they wanted and be more happy
And then he goes trying to die... Gotta love that
