Paulstretch
I completely forgot about this program, just remembered it last night when making some stuff for a DJ set tomorrow. A great tool designed to create extreme soundstretching effects from audio, and produces very usable sounds.

Guitar repair
Reminded me how bad I am at soldering, eventually got it attached again.
Don't forget to check it works before putting it all back together again! :)
Job done, get the kettle on.
I've started an OU course, and part of it is using this drag and drop programming language called Sense. Turns out it's got a MIDI soundset in it and it's quite easy for me to get distracted. I had a suspicion the timing would be really crappy so I put it on really short intervals to see what would happen. It ended up swinging around quite strangely, especially when pressing other buttons.
I find it quite hypnotic in a weird way.Hopefully I'll be able to chop some bits out of it, and get a bit of an odd swing going that I couldn't have programmed normally.
Latest haul from the charity shops for modification. The sheep plays lullabies and tells me it loves me, the teddy bear laptop identifies various bits of clothing and a bee asks questions. It also plays music.
Been using this for a while as my main distortion plugin.
Circuit bending
This site is old now, but a good place to start if you want to learn about circuit bending. http://www.anti-theory.com/soundart/circuitbend/ it's based on the writings of the father of circuit bending, Reed Ghazala.
Here's a sample of me taking the bus out for a spin. Buckle up!
My first circuit bending experiment, as you can see its a bus. It makes some pretty messed up sounds if you know how to "play" it. I think I'm going to go back to this for the next track, so I'll post some examples of the sorts of sounds it generates up soon.
The initial outlay for equipment for this sort of stuff costs a bit, but the toys themselves can be had for next to nothing in charity shops.
Really cheap and great fun. You can get the piezo transducers without the plastic case from Maplins in the UK for about 80p. You will need a soldering iron for this, but you can pick one up pretty cheap.
First bit of vinyl out
Available from all good, and some bad record shops, the see the road remix of cyan341's track disconnected, alongside the original and mixes by Abstract Source and Area.
Best place to get the vinyl is straight from the Uncharted Audio shop as its only £6 you get the download with it for free.

Shortcircuit
Been using this free sampler for a while now, pretty good for sound design stuff and suits the way I work quite well. I like the fact it is designed to be good at mangling audio and comes with NO library, it's not under development anymore unfortunately though.

I found this and some other stuff from this blog, which has loads of free and cheap plugins etc.

Almost finished arrangement of the new track.
OK, here's a short preview of the latest track, all sounds sourced from the guitar, drums were created from the sound of pulling the line cable in and out of the socket. Now I just need a better name :) I was thinking maybe, "don't mean a thing (if you ain't got 38% swing)"
Latest track
I've been using a guitar and home made contact mic to source all the sounds for this track, and running it through a load of distortion on the amp. I'll post up a preview soon as it's nearing completion.
