Elrond gets the flu, a premonition and an extended stay with the healers. Gil-Galad gets a fright and a talking to. Celebrimbor gets dragged out of Eregion kicking and screaming, and Sauron’s exes get to unionise.

Actual Summary: Elrond gets sick. Not just a little, but really properly sick. Given he can not currently trust any of his "friends", he resorts to hide. This has consequences.

Bookbinding Projects: It’s TWINS! 🎉😱😁

After finishing my first ever bind of Tolkien Short Fiction last autumn @celebrimbor-apologist half-jokingly asked me what it would take to get a handbound edition of their drop dead gorgeous „Rings of Power“ fics. Turns out the answer is quite simple: a bit of patience for my over-excited, happy squealing to subside (seriously, I was SO happy you asked!). And then a lot more patience for me to descend into and re-emerge from my typesetting-and-material-fussing rabbit hole to get some actual binding done.

And since I can be a bit greedy at times I've made it identical twins. I love how they turned out and am so very much looking forward to snuggling up with my copy in bed over the weekend.

The volume features 12 stories from the "All You Good People" collection over on AO3 (published there under the pen name hopeful_foolx) and is a mixture of fics I had already fallen in love with ("Sunflowers" my beloved and "A Song for the Doomed"), fics warmly recommended to me by dear mutuals (Trust like the Wind -- thanks again, @self-destructinganimal and @ailendolin 😁👋) and stories I've had on my reading list for ages ("Drown it Out" , "Long As You Run" and many more).

If you are looking for some beautifully quiet stories about Elrond, Gil-Galad, Celebrimbor, Camnir, Vorohil and the rest of the elven gang brimming with wonderful characterizations, utter heartbreak and the healing power of friendship I cannot recommend these enthusiastically enough!

THE AMOUNT OF JOY I FEEL

The fact that my little fanfics had someone _bind them into a book_ means more to me than anyone could ever describe. I have no words, I truly don't. I adore this, and it has me actually reading all of my silly little stories again.

I'm sorry if I sound whiny, but the thing that grinds my gears to no end is people using chatGTP to write comments on ao3. This happened to me a couple of times now and I just.

Don't feed my story into an ai. Don't let it write me a comment that is soulless, conveys no emotion and also gets the goddamn plot wrong. Don't kill the planet because you want to comment and don't have the capability to write a "loved this" when that would work perfectly well.

Don't use bloody AI to write comments for fanfics that are locked for the simple reason that we don't want our works to be fed into the slop factory.

But also, if you write me an ai comment prepare to he blocked. I'm not dealing with this.

Five things I am thankful/grateful for in 2025

The basic idea is very simple: List five (or however many) things you are proud of this year. Achievements, accomplishments, changes, things you did, anything you feel proud of for whatever reason.

Kinda long, so read more it is...

So, first things first: 2025 was a clusterfuck for the first like, eight months. I got so sick I couldn't eat for a month, my recovery was long and difficult because I was also writing my MA thesis, live far away from family, my neighbour started becoming creepy as hell, my job as a tutor got cut by 2/3rds. I was desperate to move out of student housing, all of my autoimmune issues flared up at once due to stress, leaving me exhausted, depressed, anxious and to be perfectly honest, mentally and physically at rock bottom. I had a huge fight with my parents which lead to no contact for a while, had to figure out unemployment payments because guess what, still don't have a job. My younger brother is going off the rails and half my family is also, just in a different way. I'm burnt out, I'm exhausted, and I'm ready for 2025 to be over.

Amidst all of this, though, there were some really good things. Is it a "it all made it worth it" kind of situation? No, because you don't need to hold out the bad things to deserve the good. But they seriously saved me in my darkest moments.

1. The guy who got me this apartment.

As I said before, my situation in student housing got creepy and critical. I wasn't able to lock my front door, which meant that while it had a knob outside, anyone could have easily kicked it in. I began apartment searching, looking like hell (hands and arms bandaged like a mummy because stress made my skin go NUTS) and broke down crying in front of an apartment manager when I viewed an apartment. By that point, the constant noise and fear was probably written on my face. He just said "don't worry, we'll get you out of there. Seriously"

He had an apartment for me the next day, and even offered to make sure I could move in there in two weeks. I needed four, but now I live in the nicest place with wonderful neighbours, one of which checks every evening if she sees light in my place to make sure that I am home safe.

2. I finally got my Masters Degree

...and I wrote a thesis not only I am proud of, but that also impressed the teachers who graded it. They are not easy with praise, if they give it, they mean it. Even though I was so done with uni, I am now actually looking into doing a PhD.

3. My family

My girlfriend (!!!), my podcast dads, my uni dad, my cat. Best older sister @ailendolin, and little sister @clansocreations .

4. Fiction Podcasts - aka: my job

I'm writing my OWN PODCAST. To come one day, but I'm also ... working on a little secret project in connection to the podcast I already work for, hehehe.

5. Honestly? To be alive.

My health is bad, has always been. I'm not saying that I'm happy to be healthy, because that's just not the case. But as I seriously thought I might die in March, could barely think, barely exist? I am so glad to be here, to be me. And I am proud to be me. Queer and autistic and chronically ill and autoimmune screwed and asthmatic and words-obsessed, with too many fairy lights, a ton of books, and about a bajillion cat pictures.

So here's to 2026!

Okay so, I started writing fics 11 years ago. Tolkienverse 10 years ago. Back then, those were in German, and I fear that half of them are ... better if they are never found. _But_ there is one that I kind of like - there is a plot in Mirkwood, there is ... injury, feels, a random OC who isn't a vampire but I get why my commentators were worried about that. I actually really like the plot, but it's also very much.... i was 16 and I had dreams. I am tempted to translate it? It might be slightly cringy, and I am somewhat mortified, but it's not ... bad? Anyone down?

Stages of Understanding Legolas’s age

0: Oh look, I’m watching the movies and he looks fairly young

1: Ohhhh, he’s an Elf, he must be old as heck.

2: Oh he’s young for an Elf, aww, grumpy teenager.

3: Elves live for thousands of years, but at 100 they are fully grown. 2000 years old is a very respectable age for an Elf.

4: Elves age primarily by their experiences and practically nothing has happened in the last 3000 years on Middle Earth. Legolas has spent his life so far running pest control in his isolated kingdom, compared to every other Elf here, he is absurdly young.
