Welp. Google's AI horseshit has arrived. And I'm not complying. They can pry my ID out of my cold dead hands. I will simply go elsewhere. Remember folks, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR IDs. Do not comply. Resist, fight it, use other browsers or sources beyond youtube and google controlled services. Call them. Email them. Make noise. Fight back.
I've been using Google as my main mail service since 2006, and every single account or service I've ever signed up for was made with that address. For a long time I thought it'd be impossible to divorce myself from Google.
It took less than 5 minutes to switch to a ProtonMail account, less than 2 hours to download and/or offload every byte of data from my Google account, and less than 3 days to change every single account or service I've ever signed up for to the new address.
As of today, the only single one I have that's still tied to it is YouTube. It's the only thing I'd lose access to if I deleted my Google acount entirely.
They really, really want you to believe that it's a hassle to switch to a different email system. But it's not. Most websites and/or services allow you to change the email address associated with it.
I've been using Google for almost 2 decades and it only took a few days to move everything. It's not a painful sacrifice; it's an easy change that, frankly, has absolutely been worth it.
You can and should switch to a free, encrypted Proton email account. You also get all of the below perks. For free. There is no trick. It is paid for by the people with paying plans. I am one of them. The (completely functional) free tier is there to entice you into getting a paid account with even more perks. (It worked on me.) But there's no penalty or pressure for staying with the free account.
Also get your stuff off the google drive and put it on Proton's drive. It is encrypted. Only you with your password can access it. Not even Proton can see what you put in there.
Worldcat is my bestie and my one true love!! Not only does it tell you what library a book is at, but it also price compares different used book sites against each other for easy view! It's how I got Tarot For the Master for $10!!
Oh, and since I have your attention: z-library (books and textbooks) and sci-hub (gatekept scientific journal articles.) I just ripped a textbook for class off z-library and snatched a required reading from sci-hub. Life is good and education should be accessible at every stage and station of life.
Protect Internet Freedom from now until forever. It's important existentially! Americans stand with UK citizens in our struggle against government censorship
keeping track of one random furry's online identity because of obsessing over the shit they were involved with as a teenager is pathetic behavior and i can't believe so many people do this, like, religiously
not doing a request or anything, but i’d like to know how you make your dividers! they’re really cool :]
I'm happy to take a stab at making a quick tutorial! Let's make this divider together!
Lets break down making a divider into some basic steps:
Making your blank canvas
Finding your images
Arranging your pngs
Exporting your divider
Making Your Blank Canvas:
Start by downloading the Canva app! I make all my dividers in Canva, and for the purpose of this tutorial I'll show you how to use the free version, but if you take up the hobby it's worth at least doing the free trial.
Open the app, tap the plus in the bottom left to create a new project, and select "custom size"
For your canvas size you should put 3000 width and 250 height.
When you first open the page it'll suggest using a temple, ignore the templates and swipe down to close that window.
You should now have a blank canvas ready to create your divider!
Finding your Images:
Now that we have our canvas it's time to pick out our images we'd like to use to create our divider.
I use a lot of assets from Canva itself, but you can always pull from Google images and Pinterest as well.
I'm not your mom, but I'd encourage you to avoid using fan art or other people's artwork in general without permission.
To upload your own images, press "gallery" and select your image.
To keep things simple I'm going to find a free graphic in canva's library.
I tap elements and search for "cat".
I select graphics.
I scroll the filters to the right and turn on only see free to use images.
I select an image I like and tap it to add it to my canvas.
I want a bit of variety, so I search for heart and select it from shapes the same as adding the cat.
I change the color of the heart by tapping the colored circle.
I roughly arrange the two elements in the far left of my canvas. They don't have to be perfectly arranged or spaced as well fix this later.
With my two images in position, I'm ready to actually build the divider.
Arranging your PNGs
This is perhaps the most complicated but important part of making your divider. Now that you have your two elements chosen, were going to duplicate and then arrange them evenly.
Hit the ... menu and tap "select multiple".
Select both your elements.
Tap duplicate.
Arrange the duplicated images to the right of the existing ones, the spacing and alignment doesn't have to be perfect.
Tap duplicate again until the canvas is filled.
Tap "select multiple" again and select all of your elements.
Swipe down to close the ... Menu, and swipe the bottom bar all the way to the right to select "Position."
Tap spacing and then tidy up. Now all of your elements will be perfectly spaced without having to manually arrange them.
Next tap "group" above your elements.
Under position, tap align, then both center and middle. Now your divider is centered in the canvas without having to manually arrange it.
Now you should have your perfectly spaced and arranged divider!
Downloading Your Image
Click the button in the top right to download your divider image. Unfortunately, downloading with transparent backgrounds are a premium feature, so you'll have a white background when you download.
To fix this, use a website like remove.bg to make it transparent.
And there you go! Hopefully if you've been following along you've got your very own transparent png divider (:
the thing about being "good with kids" is all it takes is literally just not trying to control and mould them with every interaction. it's just being a normal person and engaging with them through normal interactions like having conversations and playing games. it's just being genuine and friendly and not perceiving them as lumps of wet clay you are there to shape. "oh you're so good with kids" thanks it's because I think they are people
