I live in a House of Cats.
I am thankful for the few files and images I still have on my laptop after the Mass Loss of All of My Life of 2013. What doesn't kill us makes us better artists? people? Something, I hope.

There is a need for individually-wrapped, unscented pads and tampons at the Richmond City Jail. You can drop off these items at Crenshaw House, 919 West Franklin Street, any time this week, and they will be taken to the people who need them in the jail.
The building is not accessible because of...

I got too excited as I was working on the zine that goes with the 10” record so I thought I would share the whole album filled with all the songs about zines! (minus the bonus live tracks)
If you like it, we’d love it if you pre-ordered the 10” record that comes with a zines AND a digital download code. We’d also like to know what you thought of this weird little project!
You can pre-order it on Etsy or On the Portland Button Works site $1o plus shipping!

Steve McQueen, my favorite curmudgeon, is as brilliant as ever as he discusses his new film and gives the audience (especially the moderator) a much needed history lesson. Alfre Woodard and Chiwetel Ejiofor also drop some gems. 45 minutes well spent!

If you create zines, would you mind filling out this survey?
Link to Survey
Barnard Zine Library is surveying zine makers to find out what their preferences are when it comes to making inter library loan photo copy requests of their zines for other patrons.
Librarians need help understanding how to handle inter-library loan copy requests in a way that respects the zine makers!
Thanks for your time! I’m sure these results will help all zine librarians get a sense of what zine makers think about inter library loan policies.
Zine makers, pleez fill out our survey! You have until 8/28. <3
Awesome event tonight that is FREE!
Ask any archivist — or most anyone for that matter — what the importance of historical materials held by archives is and they will likely tell you that it is so large it is immeasurable, assuming that that is true and flattering. True, yes, to a degree, but definitely not flattering. In fact, that is one of the big problems with archives — that their value or impact is not directly measurable. We try to measure, and, despite the strength of the adverbs we use (very, extremely, critically, etc.), the measurement is soft because it lacks numbers.

this was sarcastic and exaggerated, guys. i was making fun of my own social anxiety, inability to find a job, and the stereotypes of librarians. i know that this is not what librarians do :x
Ahhh okay. I got the exaggeration, but not the sarcasm mainly because I'm frequently approached by people who do think they'll have limited social interactions and be able to hide in books, basements, boxes if they pursue a profession in libraries. Second reason I missed the sarcasm: because Internet.
reasons being a librarian is the perfect job for me and you need to hire me as a librarian
dont have to talk to people

bookshelves = perfect height for hiding from people
Oh. No. Just, no.
Some days I wish these myths were true, but most days I'm glad they are not. Should this person persue librarianship for those reasons, they are in for a world of disappointment.
Never ones to be outdone, Crossett Library is rolling out some pet therapy for our patrons. Of course, after a quick call to PETA it turned out that renting kangaroos and elephants is not easy OR humane (or legal, I’m not sure, I hung up when they started talking about lawsuits.)
But our patrons deserve the best, so they got the best that we got! From left to right, our Animal All-Stars:
Horton Who
George Monkey
Reindeer
Kangaroo Rabbit
Sleepy Boy
Camel
Bearry
Hungry Caterpillar
If you’re in the area (on campus) feel free to come by this afternoon and Pet A Pet. (Best if you steer clear of the camel, fur is a little funky from spending most of its life inside the mouth of a golden retriever.)
^ LOVE THIS!
My library is looking into therapy dogs for stressed out, overwhelmed students. I think this library's approach to an unnecessary fad is way better. Everything is better with a sense of humor.
