The morning that Holly Bobo (20) disappeared, her brother Clint saw her with her abductor, but he only realized what had happened when it was too late.
Holly, who was a nursing student from Darden, Tennessee, woke up early on April 13th, 2011, because she had an exam. Her parents had left the house by 7 am and said goodbye to her, while Clint was still asleep. Around 7:50, Clint was woken up by dogs barking, looked outside through the window and saw a strange scene: Holly was kneeling down, looking very upset and saying things like “No, why?”. In front of her was a man, also kneeling, talking to her in a quiet voice. Clint couldn’t see or hear them well, and he assumed it was Holly’s boyfriend, Drew Scott, breaking up with her.
But then minutes after he received a call from his mother Karen from work, who was alarmed because a neighbor had called her telling her that they’d heard a scream from the Bobo’s home. Karen told Clint to call 911. Looking out of the window again, Clint saw his sister walking to the woods with the same man from before, who was dressed in camouflage. When he went outside to catch them, he noticed a pool of blood next to Holly’s car. Later testing revealed it was hers.
Holly’s remains were found in September 2014, in a wooded area 32 miles away from Darden. By then, police already had arrested suspects for the crime, although the little has been revealed about the actual investigation and discoveries. Currently, there are three men charged for the abduction, rape and murder of Holly. One is Zachary Adams (30), who was arrested in March 2014. Adams has a long criminal history, including shooting his own mother when he was 19. His brother Dylan, who is another of the charged men, confessed to investigators he had seen Holly alive at his brother’s living room after her disappearance and that he and his brother had raped her and Zachary had videotaped it. He later claimed it was a coerced confession. The third man is Jason Autry (40), a friend of Adams who according to the prosecution helped in the murder and hiding of the body.
Other three men have been named in connection to the case: brothers Jeff and Mark Pearcy, who weren’t charged, and Shayne Austin, who committed suicide in February of 2015.
A date for the trial hasn’t been set yet, but the judge said it likely wouldn’t be until 2017.
