I forget how gay I am till I’m around a bunch of straight people.
on today’s episode of me having feelings, a series of tweets about “anti-rape nail polish.”
Louise Zhang (born 1991) is a Sydney-based artist whose work starts with the most basic unit of construction: the amorphous, inchoate ‘blob.’
creepypasta time
the creepiest pasta is lasagna, imo. how did it get so wide
"if you’re straight and white tumblr will lynch you~"
fun fact!! there are actual places in the real irl world today (2014!) where if you are anything other than straight and white you will actually get lynched! literally! they will literally kill you!! isn’t that wild??

I thought that Trans was an umbrella term and Non Binary was under that umbrella?
NoI’m really tired of people using it like thatNot all nb people are transJust like not all trans people are nb-matt
I find it important to point out that different theoric models use trans in different manners.
As such, in the Transcentric model for example, trans is used as a descriptor for people who aren’t of the sex they were assigned at birth, and this covers non binary folks as well, even if it does not oblige them to call themselves so.
I’m pretty sure tonidorsay would have some words to say in this as well.
Okay but I’m not comfortable with people just shoving us under the trans umbrella Non binary is it’s whole own umbrella I’m tired of people shoving nb under trans like they’re sweeping us under a rug
This demands two answers.
The first: your feelings are entirely valid - for a long time, categorizing nb as trans was done in an erasing manner, and your disconfort is justified.
The second: at least under transcentrism, which is the theoretical paradigm I’m most familiar with, to affirm non binary folks as trans isn’t to put them under a gender umbrela. Rather, it is to say that they are not of the gender they were assigned at birth. For, in trancentrism, trans is not a gender. People can be woman, man, both, neither, or any other gender that isn’t described by this binary. As long as they aren’t of the gender they we’re assigned with at birth, they’ll be trans.
To say someone is Trans under the Transcentric paradigm is acknowledge they do not conform with the gender they were assigned at birth, and does not assign them a gender by itself.
In the same reasoning as the above, to say someone is cis is to acknowledge the are of the gender they were assigned at birth, and this does not assign them a gender.
Confusion is reasonable since the idea that cis and trans are genders in themselves is a tactic used by both TERFs and truscums to deny trans people dignity.
About this and more, I suggest reading Introduction to Transness, by tonidorsay, as it not only presents this theoretical paradigm but it also tackles the tactics by which transphobic people seek to deny trans people dignity and agency, as the one outlined above.
I am rather uncomfortable with the idea of forcing a label onto another unprivileged group because thats your theoretical paradigm.
You are forcing a label onto another group of unprivileged people without their consent or input.
yo @wetmattos do me a favour and shove this condescending, pointlessly-bolded essay up your ass
just because I’m not cis does not automatically make me trans. I am not trans because you and your theoretical paradigm say I am, I am trans if I say I am and I’m not. forcing nb people to conform to this ~*theoretical paradigm*~ is forcing us to confirm to another version of the binary and your backwards black and white way of thinking is not ~*the way things are*~ just because it’s written in a ~*intro to transness*~ and makes perfect sense to you.
your whole essay literally says “you’re allowed to feel that way but let me tell you why you’re wrong, yeah labelling nb people is erasing but THIS THEORY SAYS IT’S OKAY” and in short this is trash and you are equally trash for pushing it on people.
if you’re reading this i hope something good happens to you today

one of my favorite things is how people talk to themselves in tumblr tags, taking this space designed for metadata classification and using it as a form of parenthetical speech. those grey little tags feel so cozy, a whispered dimension to the flat communication of the net
People often say ‘stop being angry and educate us’, not understanding that the anger is part of the education.
