Happy Trilobite Tuesday! Sometimes a fossil specimen tells a story: One day in the Silurian Period, this 5-in- (12.7-cm-) long Arctinurus trilobite came to rest next to a Dimerocrinites crinoid. Despite their flower-like appearance, crinoids are marine animals related to sea stars that use feather-like arms to catch drifting food particles. This fossil, from the Rochester Shale Quarry of New York, is a snapshot of life some 430 million years ago.
Some wide angle shots I took back in the start of May. It was the transition of seasons and introduction of new palettes.

No one doing this should be allowed to call themselves a feminist.
The wealthy author escalated a social media spat that resulted in posting a photo from a 2023 event at the Institute of Economic Affairs in
Let's not beat around the bush: Children's author JK Rowling sexually harassed someone. In some jurisdictions, this would count as sexual abuse. JK Rowling has committed a sex crime against a woman and fell back on the old rape apologist standby of "she was asking for it".
I hope your nostalgia is worth it
I watched The Odyssey today.
WTF I got jumpscared by a horror movie trailer.
Speakers go BOOOOOOOOOOOOM
The Polyphemous section is horrifying. It's a perfect adaptation.
Dog/animal lovers beware. If reading and imagining hurt then seeing it on screen is even more painful.
I don't remember anything about the giants.
Grotesque!
I thought I would hate the desaturated look but it admittedly fits the tone of a brutal voyage. There are scenes that are aptly colorful but could be more vibrant.
(Now that I slept on it overnight thoughts:) There are slight changes to the story that worked quite well (imo), and you won't understand till the end too. However, these changes will upset folks. There are some aspects that I wished were left in, and in the end this film is one interpretation, like how there are many interpretations if myths, fables, and folklore - which is up to you to decide if it's good or bad because that's entertainment.
I will add that I went into this completely blind and open minded considering I haven't read other works and poems like the Aeneid and only a bit of the Illiad. This film very much isn't 100% Homer's Odyssey and I can't pinpoint refrences outside of the Illiad. I also don't keep track of filming and scripting processes for movies (I'm not that into cinema compared to books) so can't comment on the behind the scenes. Eitherway, I enjoyed it for what it is, and I get why people are livid.
That is all I will say. Adieu.

Y'all wanna see what roughly 400 miles of California looks like?
Up 101 from Santa Rosa to Crescent City. There's something magical about watching the vegetation change mile by mile, from oak woodland to pine forest to the redwoods
