Polytrix kids as teenagers: did any of them had a rebellious angsty 'You don't understand me, mom!' phase?
Rumi: Trying and failing to add logic to the tantrum. 'I know *exactly* how you feel, half-demon spawn of mine.'
Mira: Only one who's actually calm through it all because she knows what *not* to do.
Zoey: Seems calm but is one eyeroll away from unleashing the Chancla.
Mimi: You don't understand me, Eomma
Rumi: (baffled) what wouldn't I understand about being a part demon teenager?
Mimi: (rolls her eyes and leaves)
Rumi: what just happened?
Jack: You don't understand me, Mama
Zoey: Well, can you tell me what happened so I can try?
Jack: (rolls his eyes and leaves)
Zoey: (under her breath) I just asked if he was okay
Mimi: You don't understand me, Appa!
Mira: (says nothing and just lets her storm off)
Zoerumi: (looking at Mira with confusion)
Zoey: Aren't you gonna say something?
Rumi: You're just gonna let her storm off?
Zoey: Don't you want to help or see what you can do or figure out what's wrong?
Mira: When you were pissed off or angry did someone coming in asking a bunch of questions who is probably not aware of whatever is happening ever help?
Zoey: huh...so what's the plan?
Mira: Let them cool off, then knock on their door. Ask them if they want some conpany and if they ask if you expect them to talk about it, tell them that it is entirely up to them if they want to. You're just here to support them and if that's just sitting in silence, hugging them, letting them vent, whatever it is up to them. But they have to ask. We're not mind readers but we want to help but we can't help them if they don't tell us what they need.
Rumi: So we just have to let them be upset for a bit?
Zoey: ugh I hate knowing their upset.
Mira: Yeah but they're not going to want to talk if they're still upset. We can't help them if they don't want our help and if we don't know what they need. So just give them space.
Zoey: (leans her head against Mira's shoulder) You're a good Appa.
Rumi: The best. (wraps her arms around her)
Mira: (feels something in her chest ache in a good way, like an old wound was finally closed) I just do what I wanted the adults in my life to do for me when I was their age.
Zoerumi: (hold her tight) We love you.
