PERSONALITY
Aurora is generally a happy seeming and friendly person. She’s nearly always happy to offer a smile and to put her own troubles aside to help others. However, underneath there is a deep fear–fear of herself and fear of others discovering who she fears she is–that drives her to keep most people at arms distance.
BIOGRAPHY:
2000
Aurora and Skylar Thomas are the only children of Elaine Thomas, an aspiring musician who moved to California in hopes of launching her career. Elaine was a talented musician, and managed to catch the attention of the god of music himself, Apollo. Her love affair with him wasn’t long lived, but it was passionate. She learnt what he was not long before he was gone. And a month or so later, she discovered she was pregnant.
2001-2011
Elaine was not prepared for one child, let alone two. Especially not two demigods with a knack for getting into trouble. She did her best, but the twins had a chaotic childhood. When they were ten, however, monsters began to attack them. It didn’t take long for the satyrs to find them and whisk them away to Camp Halfblood for their protection.
The twins were taught to fight, to defend themselves, and discovered their other siblings in Cabin 7. After the summer finished, the twins returned home, armed with weapons and knowledge to better protect themselves. Their mother didn’t understand, and she disliked her children being taught violence. She dared not keep them from camp when the next summer came, despite the tensions brewing.
2014
When they were thirteen, a demigod came to them while they were in California. He tried to recruit them, and when that didn’t work, he attacked. Aurora lashed out with a power she didn’t know she had. Disease poured from her, infecting any fool who got close enough. Her twin seemed to be immune, so Aurora thought at first she had only infected the demigod who attacked them. He had quickly disappeared, and she knew not what happened to him.
Afterwards, she would hope he had found nectar or ambrosia to heal himself. He had hurt them, but she did not want to have his blood on her hands. Like she had her mother’s.
By that night, Elaine fell sick. Awfully sick. And Rory knew what she had done. Skylar tried to reason with her, insist it could be a coincidence, but as Elaine deteriorated quickly, they both knew the truth. Aurora called an ambulance, but there was nothing the hospital could do. They had no idea what was causing this, it made no sense.
Aurora was distraught when Elaine died, barely 3 days later. Skylar was the one to pull her away, to convince her they had to get to camp. Monsters were already beginning to appear, drawn to Aurora’s display of power. On the way, Aurora swore Skylar to secrecy, begging them to keep the secret to just the two of them.
2015-2016
Aurora connected most with the medicine and healing side of her father’s powers, despite her hidden power. The older campers–her siblings–taught her first aid and medicine. Healing that would become important not just for questers and mishaps with the firewall, but when war knocked on their door. Not once, but twice in two years. Aurora lost more people, people she couldn’t save, people who saved her, people who she had loved but had betrayed them. Her heart ached from loss, and she dealt with it by withdrawing parts of herself.
To those less familiar, she still seemed happy, light, forgiving. But inward, she was far less forgiving of herself, and afraid to get too close to someone lest she hurt them like she had her mother.
2020
At nineteen she decided to take her skills out of the camp and into the rest of the world. But the rest of the world didn’t recognise her years of experience, so she wanted to get a nursing degree. With Fates University giving Greek demigods a chance to have a life beyond the camp, it seemed the safest move.
