break me like a promise - modern au where catra and adora are exes who meet again when lawyer!catra has to work with adora’s company. as kellan and lex’s self-appointed adopted older sister, i just want to say that this fic hit me with a metal bat in the kneecaps, pushed me down the stairs, and then swaddled me in a blanket and handed me a warm cup of tea. i binge read this fic on a saturday afternoon and i haven’t known peace since.

maps - FLORA MY PAL i hope you know this fic slaps!!! this fic has some of the most lovely writing about catra processing the events of canon... ALSO RAZZ AS HER THERAPIST? ICONIC SHOWSTOPPING BRILLIANT... the entire first portion of chapter four is one of my favorite parts of any catradora fic. seriously.

if i loved you less - any of sunny’s fics are lovely but this adora character study is just.... yeah. the writing speaks for itself. its beautiful.

want me down to the marrow - dia calls this his “catra’s hot girl summer fic” and it will devastate you and rip your heart out but my goodness is it good. i remember when i read this and saw the this is how you lose the time war quote at the beginning and started screaming and didn’t stop until the end. dia’s writing is fucking wonderful. 10/10.

bigger & brighter than space - five times adora represses herself and the one time she doesn’t. by rhys. and who doesn’t love rhys’s fics??????? im just such a slut for adora character studies.

ok i said i would make a part two to my catradora fic rec list so here we go. here is part one if you are looking for more! there are so many wonderful creators in this fandom, and i hope you’ll take the time to kudos/comment on some of these.

anachronism - IF NOBODY GOT ME I KNOW CHELLE GOT ME!!!!! seriously, if you’re only going to read one fic in the fandom, make it this one. chelle’s world-building and characterization is god-tier, and i want to know who i have to talk to so that this can be the plot of the spop movie. major bonus points for making my favorite milf angella a big part of the plot. also, read the sequel, immemorial, which is in progress!

why would you ever kiss me - SHOW SOME LOVE FOR BREAKUP FIC. post-canon catradora being terrible at being exes. michelle, i still want booty shorts that say “it takes two hands to have sex” on the ass.

the squad goes intergalactic - this is a series about the best friends squad being intergalactic diplomats that will quench your post-canon needs. catradora and glimbow is good for the soul.

i picture it soft & i ache - ceo catra and non-profit runner adora fake dating au. i’ve re-read this one like three times now? i think about it often. its just really, really good.

seconds that i cannot replace - this one… if you haven’t read this one, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? GO! basically, catra and adora keep falling in love in the horde, and shadow weaver keeps mindwiping adora. there’s a sequel now and they’re both pretty angsty but WORTH IT.

raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens - recently i became obsessed with the thought of catra and adora having kids. like that’s really not something i’m ever into in fandoms but with these two… pregnant catra makes me want to sob and this fic really fulfilled all my needs for that.

how can anybody have you - horde lord catra sexy. enough said. basically, catra takes adora prisoner but they’re too gay for that to really be effective.

carry our bodies safe to shore - another mindwipe fic because i just really love AUs where catra and adora kissed while they were horde cadets. huge bonus points for glitra friendship rights in this one.

and if i fall in love again, let it be for the last time - COWBOY AU FUCKS!!!!!!! there’s mountains. there’s horses. city girl catra looking to get away on a ranch and finds sexy farm girl adora. oh, we love it.

a universe waiting to happen - five times kids liked She-Ra more than adora (and one time one didn’t). aka the catra is really good with kids fic and its adorable.

I had a VERY long discussion about basically how my parents have caused me so much trauma I've been carrying. Mind you I didnt ever (EVER) want to have this conversation it just kind of happened. Anyways, I am very emotionally exhausted and feel terrible. Any recommendations of good catradora fanfics?

first of all, i am so proud of you for doing that! even though its hard, i think that’s a really important conversation to have. sorry this took a couple days to reply to! i was trying to compile a list. so there’s the super obvious ones like don’t go and i know anchronism is another really popular one which has been recommended to me by several but i just haven’t read it yet (i’m saving it bc i know im gonna end up reading it all at once tbh). so here is a not at all comprehensive list. all the fics included on this list are completed:

glowing in the dark - college au where catra and adora were bffs in high school and haven’t spoken since until they end up in the same english lit class. stayed up way too late just to read this. i loved it.

buried a hatchet (it’s coming up lavender) - automatic points for the phoebe bridgers lyrics title. this one is “what if catra and adora get stuck in the portal instead of angella” and it is amazing

notes on fashion - au where catra is a model and adora is a pop star. i’ve thought about this fic every single day since i read it. i love it like my own child. one of my favorite au’s i’ve read from any fandom.

five nothing kisses...unless? - by my pal @scrawnycatra. as i once told michelle, “KISSING FIC FUCKS!” im a sucker for any fic that includes catra and adora having kissed while they were in the horde.

keep on walking, come what will - adora and catra are engaged but they don’t realize it. this was the very first catradora fic i read and what a way to start off. we know the etherian rituals are intricate we just know it!

meet me at the finish line - street racer catra meets mechanic adora to work on her car, melog. this one is also made a huge case for “best au i’ve read in a long time.” the sexual tension is DELICIOUS.

where the lonely ones roam - the one where catra nurses adora back to health at the end of the war and then builds a village. the slow burn and catra’s characterization in particular is *chef’s kiss*

she’s a keeper - SOCCER COACH AU CATRADORA?!?!?! you betcha. also they’re high school exes, which makes things extra spicy. another fic i think about way too often.

translucence - i told you i’m a sucker for catradora kissing while they were in the horde, so here’s that plus mind wiping angst.

till death do us part (in stupidity and in health) - this one had me fucked up. adora’s an fbi agent who gets shot and is bleeding all over her wife’s favorite er. i really loved the way this fic described catra’s emotions while sitting with the uncertainty of adora’s condition. super relatable and super well-done.

you got cool - i didn’t know i was such a slut for high school aus until i read this. holy shit. adora transfers to a new high school for her senior year, and she and catra don’t speak for months because of it... until they do!!!!!!

please take it out on me - dumb horny jocks who get banned from the gym for fucking too loudly? sign me up. but also, feelings and pining.

I mean, Lake Michigan is big enough to be a sea. All the Great Lakes are, they’re not considered seas because they’re not all at sea level, they’re all freshwater, and they’re not directly connected to the ocean (they’re only connected through rivers and lochs)

Small lakes don’t have noticeable waves but because the Great Lakes are so big there’s enough room for the air to downdraft across it (which is also why in Michigan you get lake effect weather and so it can be a blizzard one day and 70° the next)
