Game Changers

I like most of you, have been overtaken by the Heated Rivalry fever and have officially started my journey of reading the Game Changer series.

Shut. Up. Genuinely shut the fuck up. I don’t want ‘realistic’. I want to be happy. Do you understand that? I do not want to watch another story where two people fall in love only to suffer and die because of it. I think I’ve had more than enough of that for one lifetime.

For decades, writers were literally forbidden from portraying queer people in media without killing them off or making them villains. Forbidden. Think about that. Really think about it. How would you feel if the only time you felt represented on tv was when you were miserable and evil?

Heated Rivalry might not be realistic, but you know what? It did something far more important. It gave people hope. If you truly think it’s wrong for that, then I can’t help you. I don’t know if anyone can.

So please, just stop. Let people be happy. Let us enjoy ourselves while we can. Let me believe, if only for a moment, that there’s a chance I could go out into the world and be myself without fear.

Honestly, the show could be straight up bad and I still would care, as long as it inspired people. Because every time someone feels a little more free to be themselves, to love openly and without shame, the sun shines just a little bit brighter.

Okay so I just started watching What We Do in the Shadows (The US version I believe)

So Ilya visits Shane in the hospital, fully intent on breaking things off. He’s so in love with Shane that it’s no longer fun and carefree, it’s just painful.

A beat after Shane apologises for not texting him the night before, Ilya says ‘no, it’s ok’, and then ever so gently caresses Shane’s freckles like he can’t help it, like it’ll be the last time.

He thinks it will be.

So, now that I’ve finished The Long Game I can officially say I like show Svetlana so much more than book Svetlana.

Like, I don’t think there is anything wrong with book Svetlana, but in the show she is literally Ilya’s best friend and has been since they were kids. Which means, she knows what he’s been through and knows about his relationship with his family and has been there to support him through that. Ilya deserves a fucking support system.

And yes, he has Shane now and will eventually have his parents as well, but he deserved a support system before Shane too. He deserves show Svetlana, not someone he met in Boston, hooked up with a few times, and then didn’t speak to for three years.

I hope they write her into the next season like they did in season one, I would love to see more of that relationship. Ilya deserves platonic, unconditional love as much as he deserves romantic and familial unconditional love.

Currently reading Game Changer, I have like 30 pages left, but I really had to express how much I ADORE Carter Vaughn.

This man is so fucking sweet and cute it’s insane. His reaction to finding out about Scott and Kip was ADORABLE.

He was so excited, he thought Kip’s name was so cute.

I don’t really know how to feel about any of that. However I do think it’s kind of hilarious that so many fans came up with beautiful theories about the upside down and the abyss and what it could all mean or represent, and the Duffer brothers said “nope. Spider monster. In outer space.”

I truly do not think anything could have prepared me for that.

i hope i’m not the only one who has a seriously irrational fear that something bad may happen to myself before ST5 fully releases. ik this seems super random to say but i just feel like ive actually been enjoying life more recently, so im scared about the ominous possibility of that ending. especially with all the negativity on social media platforms regarding politics and war the past 48 hours + living in the U.S. with an extreme trump supporting mother, i just despise and fear the feeling of a lack of safety for both myself and others.

i bring up ST5 specifically because it’s something that, when i feel alone, i can find comfort in, which is funny because that’s literally the point of the show. as a bisexual high school girl, i’ve really found solace in both Will and Mike’s character. i’ve been through a similar situation as what i believe Mike is dealing with and i’m currently nearly paralleling Will’s life in terms of love life/sexuality. although i believe Byler has an opportunity to come to fruition, i know in my personal life that that simply cannot happen with the girl i love for several reasons. because of this loss in my life, i simply just want to live to see two famous characters in media portray and happily live the life that i believe they both deserve. additionally, id be content with seeing these two at least breathe a breath of the life i wish i could have.

all this pent-up and strained hope i have, however, will always be accompanied by doubt and fear by the wider issues in my family and the greater world.

i just want to say that i genuinely appreciate this community of ST fans (particularly Bylers) i’ve come to get to know in pretty much just the past week ive really started using Tumblr. i feel that both i and everyone else can open up and talk about issues with safety and lack of judgement. love you all ♥️♥️♥️

it's a story about outcasts and weirdos and freaks (in a conservative town, no less). it's a story about love (especially love winning out against hate) and found family. it's a story about growing up and all its complications, and how it might not go the way you want it to (even if you pretend it is). it's a story about truth and sincerity and its importance(friends don't lie, after all).

stranger things is obviously not just about queerness but having that final gay touch will perfectly tie together all the themes in the show that make stranger things stranger things. and i’m hella looking forward to it
