"I'm fine, really." Mei made a move to get back up again, only to be pushed back down into the mattress roughly by his friend. "Today's a really important practice game with an interesting pitcher, I can't just miss that." He punctuated his sentence with a sneeze he tried his best to hide behind his hand. "I'm serious, let me up."

Mei knew he was being childish, but he couldn't help it; he had been waiting all day to finally eat that ice pop he had specifically bought for the end of practice today, only to enter the kitchen to find Seidou's sidearm pitcher happily munching on his blue snow pop. Even now, as Kawakami was talking, the blue was still clinging to his lips and tongue, which just made Mei pout harder.

Ruriko reached out and retrieved her wallet from the boy and grinned at him. “I definitely would have been in trouble if I didn’t get it back!” There was a slight tinge of pink on her cheeks from embarrassment of losing her wallet. If it weren’t for the consequences that are awaiting her back at the hotel that she and her team were staying at, she probably would have played this off a little bit cooler. Hazel hues met ocean blue and the volleyball player gave the blond a smile of thanks. To be completely honest, his hair color, complexion, and eye color almost took her off guard and she almost mistook him for an American boy and she almost started speaking English to him. It’s not everyday that you see a natural blond on the streets of Tokyo. The middle blocker then bowed and introduced herself, “Hamasaki Ruriko. It’s nice to meet you Narumiya-kun.” She didn’t feel as if her words of graciousness and thanks were enough so she went out on a limb. “Seriously, you really saved me by finding my wallet and actually returning it to me.” The brunette laughed in a sheepish way and rubbed the back of her neck. “There’s a nice café in the lobby of the hotel where I’m staying at. Let me repay you by getting you a coffee or something.”

"My pleasure to meet you, Hamasaki-chan." Mei bowed his head slightly in return, not breaking eye contact, his grin only getting wider. She really was cute, and the pink dusting her cheeks at the moment only made her eyes pop out more. His hand now free of the wallet, scratched the back of his head, simply looking for something to do with it before slipping it in his coat pocket, trying to avoid showing his nervous tick of snapping his fingers when he was nervous. Not that he was nervous about anything, no, he was used to talking to pretty girls, it was just - what was the point of denying it, Hamasaki-chan was really attractive and sweet, and he was trying to find an excuse to see more of her already; the last thing he wanted was for her to go on her merry way without her at least giving him her number.

Before he could go through with his plan though, Hamasaki-chan surprised him with an offer of her own: coffee at her hotel? He couldn't see why not. Also, his mind added, this could also mean that she also wanted to see more of him, and that thought is what pulled him out of his over-thinking. "I'd be honored to, if you don't mind." He replied, giving her his sweetest smile.

He fell in step with her as she started walking again. "You said you're staying at a hotel? You're not from here then?" He asked, genuinely curious. It would be disappointing to hear she was from the other side of the world - then again, she did speak Japanese, which was already a good sign.
