My new tablet
MUCH TO MY DISMAY THE TUMBLER APP DOESNT WORK WITH MY NEW SAMSUNG NOTE 10.1. Hopefully it will work with regular web browsing. I am trying to upload a couple of pi s but it doesnt seem to be working.
Did I mention that I fell
As I hurriedly start down the hill beside the house I went down... all the way down on my butt. In trying to catch myself I halfway ripped off a fingernail and hurt my shoulder. Nothing major but I was sore the next day. I got a massage today and some parts were so tender but Erica did an excellent job. She said I was to tight and knotted that I needed an all day massage. LOL.
New posting place.
I opened a new facebook page that is for health related things and the journey of weight loss. It is Juicing Nutritarian and My weight loss journey is the community page. I am not sure what the main difference is so I am trying both. Join in and share your favorite weight loss or juicing tips.
... On Being Fat
There is a certain point at which being overweight leads to a double chin for most people. I am at that point and I hate it. Close up photos are not my friend. As much as I hate them, I do need to take a before photo as I lose weight so it will remind me where I came from. Also, I need to take my measurements. The only ones that I got were bust 48, waist 44, hips 49. I used to have a pear shape. Then I got my I got my boobs done. Yes, I admit it. I got my boobs done about 11 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. I was much more proportional. If you have questions about breast augmentation, I would be happy to answer. Now, I am more overweight and my belly looks like I am 4 months pregnant. This is not a look that I am fond of. It is much harder to get clothes to look good on me now. I am losing weight now. Week one I have lost about 7 pounds.
Types of Juicers
There are two main types of juicers. One is a masticating juicer. It is the type that the Gerson therapy recommends for healing. Google for the Gerson therapy and you can read about the different types of juicers there. Champion is the one they recommend next to the Norwalk. The Norwalk may be the all time best for enzymes produced, but it is about 12 times the price of other juicers. Dr. Gerson used that type along for cancer patients and some other diseases. The Next in line that he recommended for healing was the Champion masticating juicer plus a juice press. The cost of the combination is around $600, but if I had cancer then that is what I would get. Really, if I had cancer and could afford it then I would purchase the Norwalk along with the Gerson Therapy book. Omega also makes the masticating type. You can even find them on amazon.com
The Champion masticating (auger) style juicer is the one that I bought. I found it at a health food store, "Eats", in Blacksburg, VA. You do have to cut the fruit into smaller pieces which takes more time and is something to consider. I have already found that when I am in a hurry in the morning I do not like having the do that.
I watched a video on Utube that demonstrated both types of juicers. I watched several videos about juicers there. One of the best videos to watch is a documentary on Netflix, "Fat, Sick, and Nearly dead. It is very inspirational. Joe had a skin disease that plagued him as well as other things that obesity causes. He juiced for 60 days with a Breville juicer and his health problems improved drastically. He now has a website that has a community forum and recipes. Google "Reboot with Joe"
There is another person that I have watched on Utube that now has a website. I will have to look for the name. He is pretty interesting also. It makes me want to have a Breville juicer from Amazon. I had both of the websites bookmarked on my little Nexxus tablet, but oopsie I ran over it with the car.
Rewards
It is recommended to reward yourself for following through on behavioral changes that help you meet your goal. I haven't decided on the smaller rewards along my journey to fifty, fit and fabulous, but if..... NO I mean when I reach my final goal is a new car. My car is quite old and I do need one, but I have always been practical about it. This time I will get what I want and I want a Camaro. I passed by one of the new ones and fell in love with it.
One of the behavior changes that I am working on is having more fun in my life. If I am doing exciting and enjoyable things then I will be less focused on food.
Note that I started my journey after going to the Chocolate festival in Lewisburg where they had tastings. The outing with friends was great. I admit that I checked out the alcohol tastings first. The chocolate martini tasting was great, but the chocolate beer tasting was so so awful. It was great to get out and socialize some place besides work. I would like to go back and listen to music, but I will pass on buying any of the chocolate specialties the area has.
Today was day one of the next phase of my life. I am beginning to prepare my body for the juice fast. Today was a vegan day without caffeine or processed foods. I am sick and tired of being fat and unhealthy. I am hoping a detox will help me to feel much better and be healthier.
You would think having nutritional knowledge would help me lose weight, but that alone is not enough. At the end of the day after work when I feel tired and achy, food is pleasurable. I have to find the way to break through the mental barrier that causes me to reach for food when depressed, sad, lonely, angry or any other excuse I can find. I feel like an addict to food. Breaking that cycle will not be easy but it is possible. First and foremost, I have to believe I can.
I will be working on visualization and positive affirmation or self talk as if I was already at goal. I will picture myself at my goal weight with the changed habits in place that it takes to get there. I will blog specifically about my juicing journey on myjuicing.tumblr.com.
Don't buy samsung note
I bought the samsung note, but it does not work as good as the nGoogle Nexxus that I had. MY NEXXUSworked great until I unknowingly dropped it in snow and then ran over it with my car. The note doesnot work withthe Tumbr app. I had to change the brightness setting from automatic to off because it kept dimming. I have had it lock up several times also.
My New Toy - The Stamina Compact Strider
I bought this exerciser from Walmart for $97. It is basically a mini stepper. It came up when I googled for a mini elliptical, but the strides are so short it is almost like peddling. I haven't been active so this is my baby step back in. Weighing in around 205, my knees quickly felt the burn. I wasn't able to do it long enough to feel it in my hamstrings at all. My knee have always been weak so this isn't a shock. I can remember having to do exercises for loose kneecaps as a teen. Thirty steps of lifting my body and my knees were on fire. It took a couple of tries to get the movement going, but the knee burn prevented me from doing it long. After the first couple of tries, I was ready to take it back.
I made it to sixty steps. That was it, sixty right steps and then I grab the chair beside it to balance myself. My knees are on fire, I breath a minute and let the fire subside. That is my goal now. Sometimes it is hard to make it, but I keep trying. I did it several times last night and a few times today. Those tiny little muscles that hold the knee cap in place will tighten and strengthen quickly. This is just the start of my journey.
Easter Death
Mom cooked ham before Easter and I ate plenty of it. I also noticed that my blood pressure went up a lot. I developed terrible headaches and my head felt like it could pop off my body... quite uncomfortable really. It was not a country ham either. I think the ham must have had additives injected into it with their "solutions added". One of which must have been MSG because I started itching like crazy and had to take Benadryl for a couple of days. Today, I passed on the "poison" ham and ate turkey instead. I felt much better. I have not been on tumbler in a very long while. I tried some different things and back again.
Day 3 of the Master Cleanse
I spent most of yesterday in bed. I should have just thrown salt water in the floor instead of twisting to reach the sink. I felt horrible and I ended up eating. I did still do my tea last night and this morning. Since I was already off the wagon, I ate some this morning and have been drinking lemonade since. I discovered that you don't start over, you just add days to the end. So, I am not the first one that went off plan, but I still hate that I did. Now I am trying to get my mindset back on track. I love the lemonade. I fix two servings at a time and before I know it, it is gone.
I have read several posts on the MC for weight loss. There are a few things to consider. You do need at least a minimum of calories and nutrients. Burroughs suggests 6 glasses a day of lemonade for weight loss. That would be around 660 calories a day. Keep in mind that the organic maple syrup not only has calories but nutrients, the more unrefined like Grade B the more nutrients. Some people are skipping the syrup. No, don't do that. Feed your body the minerals. Having 660 calories a day is already low so give your body its fuel. Some people only use 1 tablespoon syrup... Well it depends. If you only drink 6 glasses lemonade then you have shortchanged your body for the day. If you drink 12 glasses of lemonade then you are just fine doing that, you have still gotten in your 6 oz of maple syrup a day. Many people have done this cleanse for 30-40 days. Especially, for people doing it for an extended period of time they need to get in enough calories and nutrients.
The salt water flush should be done before anything is eaten. It should not be done more than once a day. Over use of it would be like overuse of laxatives, and could be a sign of an eating disorder.
I have been loving my lemonade. I am drinking closer to the 12 glasses with 6oz Maple Syrup. I can not seem to get any real substitutions for cayenne so I am drinking it today... until I itch or break out. The cayenne is suppose to help loosen mucus and get things moving.
I have read that people can lose as much as 2 pounds a day, but that is not the norm. Most people seem to lose around a pound a day and sometimes less. Of course people with a BMI over 30 would be more likely to lose more than those within a overweight BMI of 25-29.99. People who are within the normal BMI range should add extra syrup to make sure they don't lose weight and just have a detox. If your BMI is 20 and you think you need to lose weight, throw away your fashion magazines. Go park in a Walmart parking lot and watch the people walk in. You will quickly learn that you are one of the slim ones. You will be in the top 10% of the thinnest people there.
Day 2 of Master Cleanse
I drank the salt water flush except for about 2 ounces. I was waiting for it to work. While I am trying to go, I start throwing up in the sink. Too much information, I know, but anyone that says it is better to drink it all and puke than to drink 3/4 of it is wrong. Not only did I throw up most of it, but I also pulled a muscle in my back from the awkward position. I have had a tens unit on my back most of the day.
On the good side, my weight this morning was finally down below 200. Weight is sooo much harder to come off after menopause. I will be using the laxative tea morning and evening. I might just try the salt water flush once a week. It is too harsh. Well, I have to go make some more lemonade. Have a nice day girls!
Differences in Boys and Girls
When boys grow up they are praised for their skills. Little Billy is good at baseball. Frank is good at math and football. Tom is great at track and soccer. On and on boys are groomed for their skills. They go kayaking and camping and tell each other how great they are. Mens magazines again focus on actions and skills.
When girls grow up the get dolls to play with that focus on looks. They are dressed up in little dresses and told they are pretty. Their dolls come with a variety of outfits and extras to make them pretty. Womens magazines focus on beauty and have airbrushed pictures that even the models don't look like before the computer editing.
So, Is it any wonder that girls grow up with low self esteem? We have not taught them to have their own identity by developing their own skills and special interests. We only taught them to look in the mirror and have anorexic models as examples of the beautiful woman on the runway. Self esteem goes a long way in adding to how appealing you are. If you do not have a lot of self- esteem yet, pretend you do. Smile with your head held high and walk into a room as if you own it. It isn't just what you look like but how interesting you are. Fake it til you make it and it will eventually feel more natural.
Frank and Bob don't walk around saying "Does my ass look good in these jeans?" Well maybe gay Frank does. That should not be the main focus for young women either. Ask yourself what you really enjoy and want to learn more about. I went kayaking and took salsa and swing dance classes. I also took a scuba class. It was a lot of fun.
Day 1 of Master Cleanse
Because of feeling sick at my stomach yesterday I skipped the salt water flush today. It is 5:30 and I have made it through the day so far. I went out and bought two bags of lemons for two dollars a piece. I get the medium size ones. The large ones here just seem to have a thicker skin without that much more lemon. Oh, I got them from Walmart. Lemon prices do seem to vary a lot so check around. You will be going through a lot of lemons. I have seen them as much as two dollars higher for a two pound bag. I have made my lemonade a glass at a time today. I am allergic to cayenne pepper so I can't use that. I posed the question of Glickman's forum to ask if there is a substitute for it. I had my measuring spoon sitting beside where I was making my lemonade which was also beside where I was cooking rice and lentils for the dog of my daughter. You see it coming now, don't you. My glass of lemonade had the slightest hint of olive oil where I had used the tablespoon to measure it out to mix in the dog food... Oops! Well, I am drinking it. That organic maple syrup is expensive. LOL.
If you can not find Maple syrup, try online at Vitacost.com, Luckyvitamins.com, or TheMasterCleanse.Com. I am in a small town right now and it is hard to find. Usually grade A is all I can find. I did find a 32 oz of organic Maple syrup at Ollie's discount store of all places. Since all I can find is Grade A, I will occasionally add in some molasses for some extra minerals. A little goes a long way there. The flavor is strong. I have no problem drinking the lemonade. I use to like it with cayenne pepper too. Its the hives from cayenne I don't like. :)
How is talking about my plans telling someone else what to do?
I did not tell anyone to not do Atkins and do Detox. I did talk about Detox, mentioned a free download for a book and a website as well as two books if anyone was interested. I mentioned them because there is a lot of crap out there.
And also Atkins does very much recommend that you buy their NANY book. They don't consider you to be doing Atkins if you don't eat the required 12-15 net carbs a day of foundation vegetables. Many people do not even realize that is part of Atkins so the Atkins forum are all about people buying the book or scouring the website. Most still recommend the book even if you read the website. I have it and several other Atkins books. The forums at Atkins.com which I participated in for several weeks are all about spreading the word that Low Carb does Not equal Atkins. The New Atkins for a New You is the book with the updates. They also recommend eating 1500-1800 calories a day for women. Personally I feel that to be on the high side for a lot of people. I did fine with Atkins when I was younger and did not have BP issues, but I am not younger now.
If you go to their forums, you would find that one of the main things they gripe about is people not buying the book and doing Atkins wrong. If you aren't doing it the Atkins way they will flat out tell you that you are not doing Atkins. It is that way with any program, they want you to follow it their way. Just because Atkins affected my blood pressure does not mean it will affect yours. You are still young and it would not be likely. I have tried to encourage you in your weight loss journey. Everyone paths does not have to be the same. When I talked about my own experiences with Atkins, I did not say that would happen to every one. Atkins fans should not take it personally when someone else has a bad experience while on it. All diets will not work well for everyone... It is to be expected. Everyone is NOT the same.
People with a lot of allergies sometimes report improvement with detox. I have major problems with allergies and anything is worth a try at this point. The only person I have tried to get to do it is my daughter that also has major allergies and fibromyalgia. After 10+ years of chronic pain and fatigue from fibromyalgia. The pain every single day of my life is overwhelming. There are medicines that I have been taking for over 10+ years so don't let the fact that I am at I trying to hope for some relief for myself and my daughter offend you and give my liver a cleanse if I can stick to it. My best wishes to everyone with their own personal struggles and journey to goal.
