___ thor stared at the man in front of him, not moving a centimeter until he could spot something that would make the trick he had known since they were kids. anything solid would work, so he took the tiniest rock and threw it at him, eyes immediately lighting up when it didn’t pass by. he wasn’t a illusion. “you’re really here!?”

         loki felt a tiny pebble hit them, so they turned around pout already on their face. it was about time something happened around here, and being a little dramatic was sure to bring some fun into their otherwise boring day. but what they had not expected was for their brother to be standing in front of them. loki could barely get any words out, so they settled for nodding, before running towards their brother. 

          ❝i’m here❞ loki said finally reaching thor and wrapping their older brother in a hug. ❝i died, but i’m here. you are here too. i thought you had died...❞

the park held many unseen wonders, one’s donna was sure she could capture in still life, for others to witness in her next gallery exhibition. she would have to develop the film herself when she has the time. with a click of the shutter, the amazon heard the other approach, a slight curl curved on her lips as she lowered the device. “’odin’s beard’, that’s a new one.” she mumbled to herself, then nodded towards the stranger. “you don’t see many of them these days, not when a phone is more practical.” she tucked some fallen tresses behind her ear, glancing at the other curiously. “are you a fan of photography?”

            loki kept their comments about phones to themselves, honestly the things midgardians believed to be cutting edge technology was susprising. but from their experience at pointing that out at the avengers complex had taught them that midgardians loved their tech, or maybe it was just tony. anyways loki just nodded at the girl’s words, it was easier to pretend to agree with her. ❝umm not really❞ they said with a small head shake, ❝i mean i don’t think so❞ that was more to themselves than to the girl, they had never taken a photo, but considering they had only been around for a few months, there was so much yet to be experienced. ❝it’s just surprising you know, i had not seen one in maybe a century?❞ well not them, but the other loki.

Peter smilled and started walking towards a booth. “So I did some pre scouting, because even if you had said no we were going to at least play the games normally. The milk bottle game has giant pokemon, so I think we gotta start there. I will die if I don’t get a bulbasaur.” He felt himself rambling on, but he was excited, who could blame him. “It’s no problem Mr. Loki, the more friends the better. Plus you seem like a good guy, and spending time with good people never hurts.” 

          ❝po-ke-mon❞. loki said under his breath while he followed peter, he was still trying to figure out a lot of things from midgard, and was glad someone as nice as peter was willing to talk to him, maybe he would ask peter if he wanted to help him navigate this planet. ❝i will get you a bulbasaur peter, don’t worry❞ loki said in a serious tone. ❝and you uh- you don’t have to call me mr. loki. that was the older me, other me, past me?❞ loki said with a shrug, ❝i am technically only a few months old, but i think we look about the same age...❞

carol felt her eyebrows shoot up. “he’s already got two stones, how?” she shouldn’t exactly be surprised, for a man like him it was probably easy. he seemed to have the forces to do it, and once you had one you already had tons of power. quite frankly, the fact thanos didn’t have more stones was the shocking part. “it happens, sometimes old memories just slip past. probably what that was.” 

          loki nodded at her question. he wanted to help. so he closed his eyes, a part of him it was pointless, the memories from his past life were not consistent, it wasn’t like he could just remember on command. no, the memories came when the memories wanted to come. but he still had to try. his time on earth -as this version of him anyways- had been short and yet he knew that their best bet to stop what was coming would be through carol. ❝xandar❞ loki said opening his eyes, ❝thanos mentioned- he bragged about something that happened in xandar...❞ he shook his head, ❝the other stone i think he got from me...❞

“Don’t make a single move, buddy- This is a STICK up!” Harley threw a handful of pixie sticks at the cashier of the candy store, who was clearly terrified.

“Gimme all yer gummy bears or I’ll Pop ya GOOD!” Because her gun was obviously a pop gun and not  revolver, but the nervous candy store owner was too scared to notice. Instead, he began frantically filling bags of candy.

Harley began to hum happily as she waited for her stolen goods to be handed over. It was beginning to look like a very good day.

            loki was sucking on a heart shaped lollipop when the commotion started. they had promised they would behave and stop escaping to the city -that often, they were still going to do it- if they were allowed one more visit to the candy store. apparently midgardian candy had an interesting effect on them and stark had banned them from the complex. but everyone has a breaking point and after some pouting they were allowed to go to the candy store. with real money this time, that’s what stark had said before handing them some bills, and something about it being strictly forbidden to play tricks on midgardians and illusions about money. their carefully planned candy selection process had been interrupted, and loki peeked from an aisle to see who was causing it.

           ❝umm are you sure you are allowed to do that?❞ loki asked the girl with the colorful hair while walking towards the register, something seemed off, they weren’t sure what exactly was happening, but the cashier look scared?

          being confined to the avengers complex was definitely not working for loki. but after enough time on midgard they were now experts at navigating the big city. of course loki had learned soon enough that going out into new york city wasn’t really a good idea, midgardians knew how to hold a grundge, specially new yorkers. it didn’t matter if loki was not the loki they had to blame, and many didn’t even let them start explaining how that loki was gone. 

         but that didn’t matter right now, because right now they were enjoying an iced coffee on a bench, and for a moment they could forget about everything else. until something caught their eye. it was something they had not seen in a while, well current loki had never seen one before, but the older loki had loved theirs up until the technology became obsolete. 

         loki approached the stranger wanting to get a better look. ❝by odin’s beard, is that what i think it is?❞ they asked pointing a the girl’s camera, ❝i haven’t seen one in ages!❞

Clark Kent, journalist for Metropolis’ Daily Planet, stood beside two cameramen and a fellow reporter–both also from the Daily Planet. Sure, whatever they captured and whatever interviews were recorded would be transcripted to put in the newspapers, but it was easier to go back and look at footage rather than attempt to write at the speed that others’ spoke. Bob Harley, who was another investigative reporter, and cameraman Jack had been in New York since February 4th. Although the explosion had been witnessed by none other than gossip columnist Cat Grant. She had been the one to first write about the incident for the Daily Planet. However, she had been mildly injured during the panic and was momentarily at home, resting. From her crew, Jamie Gillis had returned a week before Clark to provide aid and working a second camera.

“Alright, you two. We’ll start recording in ten,” Jack announced.

Clark looked to Jamie, offering her an awkward smile to signal he was ready. She pointed the camera at him. Fixing his glasses, Clark offered the camera a small smile. Although his physique didn’t seem to change much, in his civilian clothing, Clark Kent didn’t really catch anyone’s attention for long. He was passive and introverted, walking around with a slight slouch and seemingly of an awkward and clumsy nature. Although even when donning his cape he remained Clark Kent, he did manage to put up a wall of confidence that his civilian life seemed unable to build.

New York City was as crowded as Metropolis, so there should not have been shortage of willing subjects to speak about the matter. When Jamie gave Clark the thumbs-up, he approached the first person he saw coming his way. “Excuse me, my name is Clark Kent. I am here with Meteopolis’ Daily Planet doing a segment on the incident that occured February 1st and what has been happening thus far,” he said politely, offering an encouraging smile. “I was wondering if you could tell us where were you that day and how has it impacted your life? Have you seen any differences in your surroundings because of it? And if you had any theories on the how and why,” he explained quickly, his gaze jumping from the person’s shoes to Jamie behind the camera.

          loki was bored. and a bored loki lead to mischief. but they had promised to behave. they had promised to wait patiently for news of thor. but they had not promised where they were going to sit and wait. tony stark had offered loki a room at the avengers compound, loki knew it was with the intention of keeping an eye on them. it didn’t matter, loki needed answers, loki needed help. so they had thanked tony stark, and pinky promised to behave. it hadn’t been hard at first, there was so much to explore around the compound, so many questions to ask to anyone who would listen to them. but the place to go and the questions to ask had ran out. and now loki was bored.

         it would’ve been irresponsible to borrow one of the midgardian vehicles, they were also very obsolete, so loki just asked the ai what to do, and in minutes he was aboard something the ai called a ride share. the trip to the city was long, and loki regretted not using a quinjet. the purpose of the trip was to get out of the complex and to find peter. peter was the only one who talked to loki because he wanted to, not because he had to keep an eye on them. 

          there was so much to see and loki wished the avengers had let them explore the city. there was also so much he didn’t understand, like for example the little scene unfolding a few meters away from them. loki approached the three midgardians wanting to know more. before they could ask what they were doing the man with the glasses started asking questions. 

          february 1st meant nothing to loki, so they just stared at the man called clark kent, but then they recalled conversations overhead at the compound, sometimes people forgot they were around, not that anyone would explain what was actually happening, but the word incident was often mentioned. ❝you mean the explosion?❞ loki had overheard stark talking about it, ❝i wasn’t around when that happened❞ whether clark kent understood that they meant on earth rather than on site loki couldn’t be sure.

“Well why not? The games are rigged to begin with, your magic simply evens out the odds.” Maybe not even out the odds, but push them far more in their favour. Peter could try and win on his own, but really, there was no fun in that. It was all about teamwork. Plus, if he could make friends with Loki, his life would be so much easier. Why fight the villains when you could just make friends with them? “Peter Parker, yeah. Sweet! So I didn’t entirely think this through, but I figured we could just go find a booth with some great prizes, and start there?”

          loki nodded as he listened to peter’s logic. loki had always used his magic for fun, even when people believed different, he had simply grown bored and decided to have some fun. of course it had always landed him in trouble, specially that one time midgard was involved. but that was in the past. now he could genuinely use his magic for fun, no mischief behind. well maybe a little mischief, but the good kind, where they won prizes by defeating the rigged games. ❝sure, that- that sounds good. just go around and see what prizes we want❞ loki smiled, ❝thank you❞ he said with a small shrug, ❝for uh, for talking to me, for wanting to spend time with me.❞

“It was a little obvious, but that’s okay. Nothing wrong with that.” Johnny admits as he looks at the other. He wasn’t going to pry about where they were from, as he figures it probably wasn’t any of his business if they weren’t going to tell him. He moved his body to the beat a little as he talks to the other. He doesn’t think too much of the eyes looking at them.

“I guess so. I mean, I’m used to having eyes on me. I would rather have people look at me because I’m dancing rather than whispering like they did after the accident. What type of music do you like?”

          loki had spent his entire life -his entire past life- trying to be the center of attention, having to do everything in his power to even be looked at, living under a shadow. but that was in the past, he kept reminding himself, now he didn’t need that, he didn’t want that. but here it seemed it was easy to get attention, all he had to do was dance. ❝so do i just move with the beat?❞ loki asked as he started to move, trying to feel the song.

          he wanted to ask about the accident, but that somehow didn’t seem like something you would ask someone you just met. ❝i don’t know what music i like❞ loki said with an apologetic smile, he didn’t know much these days, ❝is that bad?❞ he asked as he continued trying to dance, ❝i’m loki by the way❞

losing memories seemed pretty common these days, everyone from bruce to herself struggled with it. maybe it had something to do space travel. humaniods might just not be suited for it. probably needed more research, she stored that thought away for later.

“i knew you in a sense. You were quite the name around the galaxy.” word spread quickly, most aliens really were a bunch of gossips. “also attempting to take another planet over causes a bit of a stir, especially when you suddenly show up with an infinity stone.” new loki didn’t make its way around, making it seem as if it was a newer happening.

          at the mention of the infinity stone a shiver went through him. it was sudden, unexpected, and like nothing else mattered but the glow of the stone. ❝he has two stones❞ loki said unsure of where it had come from, it was a subconscious reaction, an instinct triggered by something he didn’t understand. ❝sorry i don’t know what that was❞ he apologized.

‘ who’s … ’ ed stared at the stranger incredulously, ‘ who is batman? who’s been living under a rock — ’ he spun on his heels to face the shorter man directly, narrowing his eyes in examination, ‘ gotham vigilante. the caped crusader … dressed like a bat with a bunch of bat-theme gadgets ? unless you were asking WHO the batman is, i’m afraid that’s a question i cannot– ’

he searched on the man’s face for recognition, or any sign of irony, only to push his glasses up the bridge of his nose with another squint, ‘ … huh. you really have no idea what i’m talking about? where are you from? ’

          was he supposed to apologize for not knowing who batman was? seemed like this person was extremely offended by loki having no idea who the bat man was. loki decided to just listen to the person try to explain, he tried his best not to interrupt even when he was left more confused than before. loki’s experience with heroes was limited to the few weeks he had spent on earth, and of course the memories from his former self. learning that some heroes identities were secret was news for him. in asgard the warriors fighting for the people were well known, he had assumed that’s how it was everywhere else.

          ❝i- um... i’m from❞ loki pointed towards the sky, of course that was inaccurate, but it was the easiest way to let people know he was not from earth. ❝my home is called asgard. was asgard...❞ he corrected himself, it was hard to believe that his home was gone, as it was hard to realize he did consider asgard home.

She spots him in the crowd of stampeding pedestrians all looking for a way out of the chaos. bullets are flying in all directions, but he remains cool, calm, and untouched. for a moment she wonders if he’s controlling them as he controlled her friends during his first rampage. she wants to believe it’s loki, but she knows that’s wishful thinking. it’s clear to see these people are acting on their own intentions. natasha storms over to loki and pushes him against one of the buildings. he might not be leading the assault, but that doesn’t necessarily rule out his involvement. “if i find out you had something to do with this attack you are going to wish your never left asgard,” she warns. “start talking while i’m still in the mood to listen.” // @chaosnmischief

         for a second he’s confused, as confused as he’s ever been and that is saying something as but a few weeks ago he woke up after dying at the hands of the mad titan. everything around him is chaos, and once upon a time he would’ve enjoyed the chaos, but right now he has no clue what is going on. the people that had talked to him since he showed up haven’t really explain anything to him. and no one really has actually asked him about what happened to him. he doesn’t blame them. loki brought chaos and destruction to their world. he barely has time to register what is happening, a different him would’ve reacted, but this version of him just listens, and wonders when will someone listen to him. ❝the black widow❞ the words spill out of him before he even realizes it, the memories from his older self coming in like a wave. the woman who had a hand in stopping him when he invaded new york. ❝i swear is not me❞ loki says innocently bringing his hands up in surrender, ❝this is midgardians being midgardians, you always look for ways to kill each other.❞

“You don’t remember?” She felt her face morph into one of confusion. If he wasn’t lying, then how did he end up like this. Carol didn’t know a ton about Asgardians, but humans didn’t worship them as gods for nothing. 

“Changing your appearance probably won’t help. I don’t think most people got a good look at you the last time you were here.” If he really had changed, she had no reason to bug him. Now if he hadn’t, she wouldn’t hesitate to blast him to the other side of the earth.

        all he could do was shake his head. the memories kept coming, but never in order, never making much sense. with no sign of thor, and only a handful of people willing to listen to him, loki felt lost. perhaps this was penance for the crimes he committed in his past life. 

       it was true, if he used his magic in a crowded place people would notice, his best bet was to remain as anonymous as possible. a thought suddenly crossed his mind, while he had no recognition of the woman before that didn’t mean she had not crossed paths with him before. ❝did you know him? older me... past me?❞ dead me.

‘ i was promised bomb threats and anti-mutant terrorism. wonder when those are going to start — ’ nygma mumbled to himself as he stepped away from the crowd that separated him from deadpool. or, perhaps, allowed himself to be separated. what he needed to do next would be easier without wade hanging on him… ‘ — ! ’ a droning noise spooked him. before he even realized what it was, his body reacted instinctively and he jumped out of the open street into the shadow.

‘ … batman. ’ looking up, he recognized the flying object speeding across the sky. after years of battling the caped crusader, the riddler could recognize the batwing from miles away. ‘ what is he doing here … – ugh! ’ he stumbled, and quickly turned around to see who he had bumped into.

          loki was getting worried. he didn’t know exactly why he was feeling so anxious. but the run-ins he had experienced so far had not been pleasant. since his mysterious arrival on midgard (he was still not entirely sure about what had happened) he had discovered that his former self had caused some trouble. people didn’t seem to think it was true, that he was a different person, a part of loki had already given that hope up, that someone would believe the god of lies.

         in an attempt to step away from the ever growing sea of people, loki had taken to a less crowded space. the festival was nothing like the ones from asgard (from the ones he could remember anyways, the memories still not fully formed, flashes of the good, the bad, and the ugly) but it seemed midgard was centuries behind asgard, technologically speaking at least. his musings were interrupted when someone collided against him ❝ow, whoa, everything alright? who is batman?❞

Peter felt his eyebrows raise. Out of everyone to see at the festival, he was not expecting Loki to be one of them. Something like this seemed below him. Based on everything he knew about the man, he wouldn’t exactly enjoy something like this. However, that didn’t mean Peter was going to waste his chance. He strode right up to Loki, walking with a purpose. “Mr. Loki, I have a proposition for you. Between my skills, and your certain magical skills, I think we could win every one of the games here. The more prizes we get, the more bragging we are legally allowed to do.”

         ❝You um you want me to use my magic?❞ Loki asked with almost childlike wonder, ever since he had showed up on Earth -back on Earth, apparently he had been here before, and it had not being a nice experience for anyone involved- people had told him to keep his head down, some had threatened him, others just kindly suggested it. But it was clear this boy was different - boy as if Loki wasn’t but mere days old, as if Loki didn’t look almost as young as the boy- Loki had never been good at friends, maybe this was his chance. ❝Parker right? I would like to get all the prizes yes, I accept.❞
